What was feared yesterday has now been confirmed. Natasha Richardson is brain-dead, a family friend told People last night:
"There is no chance. It is a fact that her heart is beating but she is brain dead."
Her condition was described as "a leakage of blood between the brain and skull."
Inside sources told TMZ that Natasha was "unconscious," her pupils "non-reactive," her skin was "pale" and she was suffering from "major head trauma."
The family has gathered around Natasha, but has not spoked directly to the public yet. Most sources say it is just a matter of time before they must face the heartwrenching decision to take Natasha off of life support. A family friend told People:
It's not official yet, but they basically will detach her."
Natasha's husband Liam Neeson has been by her side constantly, according to most reports. Her family has gathered around. Her mother Vanessa Redgrave, aunt Lynn Redgrave, sister Joely Richardson and her two sons Michael and Daniel visited her last night at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York.

oh my gosh!!!!! Natasha Richardson is one of my favorite actresses!!!! I will keep her in my thoughts!!!!! one of my favorite movies she played in was the parent trap!!!!!! I hope her family can get through it together, i know in a way what they are going through, my aunt became brain dead from a heart attack in the summer and we had to take her off life support......my prayers and thoughts are with them!!!!!God Bless!!!

I´m so sorry, she had a beautiful smile. I remember I loved to see "The Parent Trap" when I was a child, I used to love the role she played, It was the role of the perfect mum. I´m so sorry for her family, I can´t imagine how sad her family and friends are. My condolences to that family full of great actors.
