Poll: Should Michael Jackson's family help pay the cost of police services for his memorial service?

With millions of fans flying into Los Angeles from all over the world just to try to get anywhere near Michael Jackson's public memorial at Staples Center on Tuesday afternoon — and with California on the verge of bankruptcy — you have to wonder who is paying the bill.

First off, it will cost at least $2.5 million dollars for some 2,500 police officers to secure the area around Staples Center.  According to a Fox News report, city councilman Dennis Zine thinks the Jackson family should help foot that bill:

If the Jackson family's going to spend $25,000 on a gold casket, I would think that AEG and the Jackson family could help defray the costs so it's a safe and secure environment for mourners that want to come.

So far, no Jacksons have offered to pony up — nor does anyone believe they will. That means taxpayers will have to pick up the tab while Michael Jackson's family squabbles in court over who is going to control his estate, estimated at $500 million. (Ironically, that's the amount of Los Angeles's pre-memorial deficit.)

What do you think? Should Michael Jackson's family help pay the cost of police services for his memorial service?
