Martellus Bennett and his brother compete in the Black Olympics." (YouTube)
Have you seen Dallas Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett's "Black Olympics" video that is stirring up a major ruckus among sports media? (See it below.) It's a sort of eating/drinking triathlon involving fried chicken, watermelon and Kool-Aid. And that's neither racist nor offensive, according to Marty B.
The controversial football player, who was fined $22,000 by the Cowboys in January for a YouTube video that knocked black and gay people, told ESPN's Michael Irvin the "Black Olympics" video was meant to attack sterotypes and it was all in good fun.
Me and all my brothers were in the kitchen and as I looked around, I noticed we were eating every stereotype. We got chicken, Kool-Aid, watermelon, we might as well do a Black Olympics. ...
We were just having fun and it was very funny for me and my brothers. When I look at it I just can't stop laughing. If someone takes offense, I apologize.
He also said that he would not be offended by a "Black Olympics" video even if a white person did it.
There's white comedians that do stuff like that all the time. I think it's funny to attack stereotypes.
