German magazine Bild ran an article quoting several designers as saying that Victoria's Secret beauty Heidi Klum — whose show "Germany's Next Top Model" premieres there tonight — is too fat, too short, too curvy and too unknown to be a runway model. Are they kidding?
Apparently not. The story starts with Wolfgang Joop, who is a big deal in Deutschland, saying:
She is no runway model! Heidi Klum is simply too heavy and has too big a bust. And she always grins so stupidly. That is not avant-garde – that is commercial!”
What, fashion isn't commercial? Is that why the Joop! brand hawks everything from bath mats to deoderant along with its so-called avant garde fashion? And since when is a gorgeous smile a bad thing?
Then model agency head Louisa von Minckwitz says Heidi is too short:
At 1.76 metres [a little over 5 feet 9 inches] she is 5 centimeters [almost 2 inches] too short."
Then there's
Karl Lagerfeld. He claims to not even know who Heidi is:
I don’t know Heidi Klum. She was never known in France."
What a crock. He owns a television. He sees fashion magazines, And he knows damn well who Heidi is. If he didn't, his ignorance of the industry would destroy his business.
We think these imperious fashion executioners are insane. Heidi Klum is a great model. What do you think?
IS HEIDI KLUM TOO FAT TO BE A MODEL?
