Alex Rodriguez at a February 17 press conference
Alex Rodriguez reported to spring training today and faced the press to supposedly tell the truth about his steroid use (see video). The problem is that his version of the truth has changed so many times.
First off, he continues to insist that he was just young and stupid, but as a Sports Illustrated report pointed out:
Rodriguez was a seven-year veteran when he and his cousin supposedly cooked up this ill-conceived scheme to transform the player everyone already conceded to be the best on the planet to be just a little bit better.
Stupid, yes. But young? Not so much. He tried to claim that he really didn't know what he was doing, but when the New York Times asked him why he injected it secretly, he said:
I knew we weren't taking Tic Tacs."
The worst part? When asked if he had cheated, he fudged around and said it wasn't up to him to decide. What kind of answer is that? Of course he cheated. He took illegal substances to get an unfair edge on his competitors.
Here's the video. Take a look and tell us how you feel about it:
What do you think? Did Alex Rodriguez tell the whole truth or is he still holding out?
