Paula Abdul denies painkiller addiction story in Ladies Home Journal

Paula Abdul

Paula Abdul is now denying the Ladies Home Journal June cover story, which quotes her as saying that she went into rehab last year for addiction to painkillers.

In a Thursday phone interview with the "Kidd Kraddick in the Morning" radio show,  the "American Idol" judge said:

I was quoted as saying something I didn't say."

She said quotations that graphically describe her experience withdrawing from painkillers were simply false. E! News quoted Paula as saying in a statement today:

I want to make it perfectly clear to everyone that I have never been addicted to or abused drugs in my life," Abdul said. "I have never been drunk. I have never entered a rehab or detox treatment center.

"I spent time hiking, bicycling, doing yoga and enjoying the spa. As anyone who has visited the La Costa Resort knows, it is a luxury hotel, not a rehab facility."

A rep for the magazine told E! News:

"We stand by our reporting and are happy that Paula decided to share her journey with us."

Read the Ladies Home Journal story, listen to Paula's side, and then tell is: Whose story do you believe?
