The world's #1 Harley-Davidson dealer died Thursday in a motorcycle accident. Bruce Rossmeyer was killed when he tried to pass a slow pickup truck hauling a camper-trailer on a Wyoming highway, according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel. Rossmeyer, who was not wearing a helmet, tried to pass at the same time the truck slowed down and started to make a left turn. He hit the driver-side door.

Rossmeyer presided over a Harley empire that includes 15 dealerships and stores across the United States, including his famous Destination Daytona in Florida. Richie Supa, a fellow biker and former Aerosmith songwriter who performed at Rossmeyer's many charity events, told the Sentinel:

He was in that moment that he lived for. He was doing what he loved to do. How ironic it is for him to be on a motorcycle in one of the most beautiful riding territories in the U.S. It's sad, but he couldn't have picked a better spot on God's earth to feel that freedom when you ride."

Rossmeyer's many celebrity friends, including "The Sopranos" star James Gandolfini and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, helped out at his charity events, according to a Miami Herald report. He will be sorely missed in his community and by bikers everywhere.

Hey , would a helmet have saved his life ???
If NOT why make a point of it in the article.
A GOOD man died due to a careless motorist and we have to be ever so careful when we ride with OR without a helmet !!!

Im sure the helmet would have helped.. Its RIDICULOUS that people do not wear them.. Ive seen SOOO many that would have lived if they had worn one.. Yes it may be what you love and dont want to wear one.. what about those you leave behind, don't you think about their sorrow??

"A GOOD man died due to a careless motorist"
Unless the motorist didn't use a turn signal I don't see how slowing down and turning left is considered careless.
