Career suicide, part 2: Chris Brown disses Oprah Winfrey

Smackdown: Chris Brown vs Oprah Winfrey (AP Photos)

Memo to Chris Brown: Don't ever, ever pick a fight with the most powerful woman in show business unless you want a scholarship to Hamburger University. Acting as if that felony rap for brutally beating Rihanna didn't do enough damage to his career, Brown dissed Oprah Winfrey in the latest issue of People magazine. Talking about her show on domestic violence, he said:

“I commend Oprah on being like, ‘This is a problem,’ but it was a slap in my face. I did a lot of stuff for her, like going to Africa and performing for her school. She could have been more helpful, like, ‘OK, I’m going to help both of these people out.’”

Slap in the face? That seems like a rather unfortunate choice of words for a woman-beater.

Oprah didn't dignify Brown's remark with a personal response, but her people issued a statement:

Oprah is very appreciative that Chris Brown performed at her school, but she takes domestic abuse very seriously. She hopes he gets the counseling he needs.”

Yeah, job counseling. He's going to need it if he keeps this up.

A source who is familiar with Brown's endorsements told the Daily News:

“He’s done. Whatever goodwill he had, he’s totally ruined it by saying that. What was he thinking? And who the hell goes up against Oprah? It just shows he doesn’t think.”

What transpired between Chris Brown and Rihanna has nothing to do with Oprah Winfrey. Ms. Winfrey only featured a program about domestic violence, she did not inflict any harm on either Chris or Rihanna. Chris Brown is solely responsible for damaging his own professional persona. He needs to "grow up" and stop lashing out at other people. Such behavior is doing him more harm than good.

I think Chris Brown's main issue is that a woman dared tell him he was wrong. He's trying to act like a victim too which he is not. Instead of being a man and say, "I'm glad Oprah is using this opportunity to help others" he gets upset because Oprah is treating him as the ABUSER not the victim. Good for Oprah!!
