Brad Pitt's beard: Good, bad or ugly? (vote in our poll)

As Brad Pitt gave Bill Clinton an update on his post-Katrina activities in New Orleans, a lot of the world was wondering, "What's up with that beard?" Pitt was at the Clinton Global Initiative on Thursday to report on his Make It Right foundation, which is using sustainable techniques to build affordable new homes in the hurricane-devastated Lower Ninth Ward.

But the beard is getting more headlines than the project -- at least on entertainment sites.

Britain's Mirror asked: "Who told Brad that matching his beard to his outfit was a good idea?" They were none too kind in described his latest fashion choices:

When your beard, shirt and trousers are all the colour of clinical depression, someone needs to stage an intervention. It saddens us deeply that we're having to tell Brad Pitt, of all people, this - he used to look so effortlessly good all the time. Now he doesn't even look hot enough to be considered distinguished - perhaps he should get some tips from his old mate George Clooney on how to work that whole silver fox vibe.

E! News announced: "Brad & His Beard Talk Rebuilding With Bill Clinton." They were kinder than the Mirror, but still, they weren't completely un-snarky when referring to his estimable New Orleans housing project:

Brad Pitt's beard isn't the only thing that's growing right before our eyes.

And Splash News didn't bother mentioning his humanitarian award form the U.S. Green Building Council for creating the “largest and greenest single-family community in the world." Their latest Brad Pitt headline simply asked: the “Is Brad's beard the Pitts?"

We think Brad deserves all the kudos he can get for the wonderful work he is doing in New Orleans. We also think it's his right to choose what he does or doesn't grow on his face. But honestly, we really do hate the beard. It's just too pointy. Too Ghost and Mrs. Muir. What do you think?
