Maybe one of the most notorious inmates sitting in a 4-by-9-foot cell on San Quentin's Death Row at this moment is Scott Peterson. Peterson, 36, was sentenced to death by lethal injection in March of 2005 after being convicted of murdering Laci and their unborn son, Conner, and tossing them in the San Francisco Bay on Christmas Eve day of 2002. His case is on appeal, which means he isn't likely to face execution for two decades.
Although he doesn't have a lot of choices in life, he decided to decorate the wall in his cell with only one photo hanging across from his bunk, a smiling shot of him and his wife, Laci. I hope it is a tortured reminder of the beautiful life he could have been leading instead of the last four years he has lived in San Quentin. The first 3/12 yrs Scott cell (fifth tier cell on East Block) had a small view of the bay, which is ironic since Laci and Connor were dumped in a watery grave in the bay by Peterson. He now resides "on the yard side," says Samuel Robinson, a lieutenant with the California Department of Corrections who has been at San Quentin since before Peterson arrived.
It's the same yard where Peterson now spends five hours a day shooting hoops, doing pull-ups and playing cards with other inmates like William Noguera, a prison artist who was convicted of murder for financial gain in 1983. "There are a group of guys that he hangs with," Robinson tells PEOPLE, "but it's not anyone of any (criminal) notoriety." Predictions that Peterson might be ostracized because of Conner's death have proven not to be true. "In Scott's case," says Robinson, "the perception [among the inmates] is that he killed his wife, and yeah she was pregnant, but he killed his wife. He hasn't encountered the challenges others face who have killed kids individually."
Robinson says Peterson still gets regular visits from family and friends. He also receives numerous letters from female admirers who send him checks for his commissary account. "He has a significant amount of money in his account from people all over the world," says Robinson. Peterson can spend $180 a month on items such as soda, candy, cookies, toothpaste and deodorant. Despite being locked in a cell for 19 hours a day, Robinson believes Peterson has adjusted well to his confinement. "You're still able to forge relationships with people who live around you and you try to make the most of your condition," says Robinson. "I think that's what Scotty is doing." Since inmates are not allowed to have computers or access the Internet, Scott composes his blogs on a typewriter and mails them to his family to post on the family's website scottpetersonappeal.org,
I have one question, who is crazy enough to have sympathy for this man who was convicted of murdering is pregnant wife and unborn child? So he only gets 5 hours of freedom a day to socialize and play sports, Laci's family will never see her smiling face or get to enjoy their grandchildren. He has ruined so many lives and we are supposed feel bad if he gets picked on in prison and sits in a 4x9 cell! Its called crime and punishment, thats what he is supposed to be doing.

I was one of the last people to talk with Laci on a commute train to Portland, Oregon at 5:00 AM on a Monday after christmas vacation. She told me she was "3 weeks before due date and had been "staying with a man in the hills and can never go back home--Scott is in love with another woman." I did not know anyone was looking for her because I had just returned from Christmas vacation and had not been reading newspapers. When I learned authorities were looking for her, I contacted Modesto PD, who did not believe me. I continued to contact Modesto Pd and tell them I spoke with her on the MAX commute train and she poured her heart out to me. There was only one other person on the train--and he was obviously a mountain man, dressed in dirty buckskin and wearing a long beard. Why would she sit in front of that dirty man when there was at least 50 other seats available? I suggested she go to the welfare department in downtown Portland and speak with them. She said that was "impossible--I can never return."
Modesto PD refused to believe me. I continued to call them and they hung up on me. I called Scott's attorney and also spoke with the investigator on the case. I firmly believe she was kidnapped and the man in dirty buckskin had kidnapped her--that is why she said it was "impossible" for her to return. I contacted authorities for years and spoke with the investigators, one of whom quit his job because he said Modesto PD was way out of line.
I have been a legal secretary for a defense attorney and a law firm, and also was a Supervisor for a Sheriff's Department. I am quite sane, and so is the investigator who, like me, believes the man who confessed to killing her and dumping her body over the Golden Gate Bridge.
Laci told me she "can never return."
I believe the employees of the stores in southern Washington, who said they spoke with her in their stores and a dirty man with her grabbed her and removed her from the store when he saw her speaking to an attendant.
I strongly believe Scott is innocent. He was convicted by the press and TV and the crowds shown hysterically for his conviction. when an investigator on the case says it is impossible to convince the press Scott is innocent until proven guilty. Scott was never proven guilty--he was, instead, convicted by public opinion, based on hysteria.
You are crazy, I think while Scott sits in his cells rotting before he goes to HELL. I think you need to check your self into a mental ward and stay there indefinite. I can not believe someone would make up such lies about something so tragic. I hope that you have the chance of feeling this pain in your life for making some bull shit up. You need a reality check, like yesterday. Laci and her unborn child was taken from this earth by her loser husband. He has done the worst crime ever. When an investigator resigns because he believes that Scott is innocent but those who hired him will not accept that, nor will the bloody crowds screeming for his execution. Never have I seen such an injustice. I hope those who screemed for his execution reap what they sow.

I live in Portland, Oregon, and happened to be on the same "commuter train" (it took awhile, but one can trace the few possible trains into PDX at that time). I, a criminal justice officer, and like everyone else with a mind then, knew of Laci Peterson and would have recognized her immediately. There are video coverage of these trains and there is absolutely no moment that Laci Peterson was on any the trains.
This stupid woman (KM) also would have to claim, besides her delusional and convoluted lie, how did Laci and Conner's bodies show up in San Francisco Bay then, obviously having been there the entire time-line of Dec.23 to the date they were finally discovered.
I hope this K.M. contacts Scott Peterson and marries him-- because that is what she deserves for dishonoring two murder victims and their entire extended family with her lies and nonse

Please tell me you are not so naive as to think that just because someone is convicted of a crime it means that they are guilty. Just do some research on the internet and you will find countless examples of innocent people who were convicted. Some were overturned at a later date. Some people who were innocent were actually executed

$11 milion spent by the state. No evidence of guilt - none. All of the evidence going to Peterson's innocence. What part of that even hints at guilt?
Personally I think being executed is way to easy for someone that doesn't care, like Scott. I am familiar with every last detail of this case and challenge anyone dumb enough to believe he is innocent. Yes there are many who have been condemned that were not guilty in the past but not Scott. For example was it fishing or golf Scott? Oh ya fishing was his final story and then the bodies float up within a mile of the spot HE TOLD US he went to. Isn't that bay like ginormous? I guess believers of his innocence think this is coincidence. Come on no-one could be that unlucky. Also, Frey stated he said three weeks before the disappearance and death that "his wife had died". She was still alive! coincidence? Come on, no one is that unlucky. Before we knew for certain she was dead in an interview he said "She WAS, is amazing". was=past, is=present... he spilled his guilt and gave us certainty of his guilt right there people. I'll bet you Kathleen Mueller is a Peterson family hired rep. to say something absurd-I bet they paid good money for that in hopes it would spark the controversy on his guilt or innocence, there is no other way someone would fabricate like that-in that way. How do you people even know that Scott Peterson murdered his wife? There was no evidence at all that he murdered anyone, even less than Casey Anthony's case. It just goes to show that this world is all in the woman's favor. Woman get all the money in divorce, they complain about not getting top jobs yet they sit on their asses all day and contribute nothing to society. Well there was NO incriminating forensic....or anything other than circumstantial evidence against Peterson. I have a gut feling that he probably did it...but you know what this is America...GUT feelings do not get you a death sentence. This case has set a dangerous precedent. If you are going to convict someone of capital murder and sentence them to death you should have to have rock solid evidence. There was none in the peterson case. The big difference with the peterson case and the Anthony case is that he was not of the female gender. So he gets a lethal injection while Anthony gets to go on with her "beautiful life" and make a ton of money i8n a book deal.
Anyone who thinks Peterson, or Anthony are innocent are fools. I followed the Peterson Trial from day 1 and, if you ask me, he was a dead man walking his second day in court. Now, the Anthony Trial, I did not follow as closely as the Peterson Trial so I was not as up on the facts of the trial so the prosecution obviously did not present good enough evidence to get a conviction. I am a Criminal Justice student and anyone who can stick up for either Peterson or Anthony make me sick!
This to me is still one of the sadest stories of ever known of and so didn't need to happen. I'm sorry for Scott's family. Most all all I am sorry for Lacy's family, Lacy and the baby who were taken for no reason. Scott is where he belongs, just wish casey was there too!
