Cue the drama button and the diva rumors because Adam Lambert just gave one doozy of a statement in a recent interview with Velocity Live Radio.
Adam himself has said that he lacks a filter when giving interviews, and apparently that includes taking a dig at his own fans. In a response to the overwhelming aspects of his new-found fame, he said:
"There’s a lot of very interesting fan encounters…very, very overzealous fans, and I love them all. They’re super supportive, and they obviously put me where I am. You know, if it weren’t for these fans, I wouldn’t have gotten as far as I did. Um, sometimes…they’re a little sweaty. A little smelly… very touchy feely. And some of the gifts are interesting. You know, I got like an inflatable kangaroo at one point, four feet tall, and I kind of was like, ok, well…thank you, this is sweet, what the fu-- am I going to do with this?
It is possible to sympathize with Adam’s demanding schedule and doubtless incessant pressure, but for a guy who has been famous for about 3 months, he might want to consider maintaining a positive public image.

Maybe you should stop writing stupid and irrelevant articles and listen again to the interview. It's because of people with no real job, that these rumors spread.
As a die hard Adam fan, I didn't find his quote offensive or hurtful. I am sure some of his fans are "sweaty,smelly and touchy feely" and who likes that? I wouldn't want a sweaty, smelly person, fan or not, next to me, either. If anyone was angered or upset by that quote, then you really should lighten up. Adam is a sweet and loving person but don't expect him to be perfect all the time.
I totally appreciate Adam's candid comments. It's so refreshing to hear a celebrity speak openly, instead of the mundane canned and rehearsed speeches we usually get. What I DON'T APPRECIATE is when people write articles that are taken completely out of context without mention of the fact that what Adam said was meant to be humorous. He was merely making a joke about a certain sub-set of fans who are very toucy-feely. I try to ignore these blatant attempts at stirring the pot just so writers can get attention, but I thought others who might not have heard the radio interview should know that Adam's comments were in no way malicious toward his fans.
There's nothing wrong with what Adam said. It'S all true and it must get overwhelming for him at times. He put the disclaimer out there that he loves his fans and that their support put him where he is. I wouldn't want to be mobbed by sweaty, smelly people all day and more importantly be forced to touch used bras and sex toys whose history is unknown. Good for him for keepin' it real. GAWD I LOVE THIS GUY...

You totally twisted Adam's words around, Viviane; taking a single, three-worded statement out of a bulk of hilarious context is creating drama out of absolutely nothing. I have been a Glambert for as long as I can remember, and in no way, shape, or form did I find that quote offensive.
Honesty doesn't necessarily mean that he "lacks a filter", in the first place.

From everything that I have seen and heard from Adam, btw his words that he speaks - not twisted ones from an unqualified interviewer, he is a very nice person.
I appreciate Adam's honesty 100% but I sure don't appreciate your style of writing - it is a little smelly.
Lets face it people who try to put Adam down will never win. His fan base is to big. I'm from the UK and we are up to date on all his new pics and vids. I'm sure the fans who have been standing in the heat all day do smell lol and yes some are real crazy, so he's just telling it as it is. Why give the guy a 4ft kangaroo when he had already said in previous interviews the Tour Bus was very cramped. If fans can't use their common sense then don't blame Adam for being honest about it.

I learned in Journalism 101 that a headline is supposed to be an ACCURATE capsule of the content of the article which follows it. Obviously that's a course you slept through. I've been reading the reviews and articles in the Examiner. If they let you do this to a really great performer and a nice guy, I won't again.

I agree with all of the commentors that this is a misleading and disrespectful article. Adam is as far from a "diva" as you can get and still be the talented powerhouse of a performer that he is. Maligning someone as sweet as Adam is only going to make you enemies, Viviane.

Ungrateful? Never! Adam is never ungrateful to his fans. He loves them and knows if it were not for them he would not be where he is right - phenomenal position to be in! But he's human,he's like us in that respect. We don't like to be around stinky persons either which doesn't mean he dislikes them. I don't think he meant it to hurt anyone!
Many of Adam’s fans are older women who do not realize how inappropriate it is to grope Adam, hug Adam or touch him in any way. Some of these women are over the top and indecently sexual in their attraction for him. As a criminal defense attorney I have found post that are disturbing. People were talking about a stalker with a knife in Tampa. Combine that with summer heat and waiting for hours to see him and I think they can scare the poor boy. As the mother of a 19-year-old gifted musician who is gathering fans locally, I do not want my son touched by fans. It is scary in these times. Aside from being inappropriate, and dangerous we are in the middle of a Swine Flu epidemic. Idol should stop the meet and greets for health reasons and to keep Adam safe.
One of the reasons I am a fan of Adam is his candor. He truly appreciates his fans. Nothing offensive to me.
If you listen to the interview - the reporter was the one who said "Touchy feely" first and Adam just repeated it. As with all popular celebs, the media screws up again!!! They sensationalize everything and twist it around. I wish they would leave Adam alone. He does not deserve this. He is a talented, well adjusted sweetheart of a guy. I don't think he has a mean bone in his body. Just let him keep making beautiful music for us fans. We appreciate his honesty!!!
I want to clarify my previous post. The majority of Adam's fans are wonderful people who love Adam for his talent and for being an inspiring young man. It is the few out there who make it difficult for Adam. I do not think that anything Adam said should be construed as insulting to his fans. This is just another headline intended to generate response.
With the title of your article, "Adam Lambert - My Fans Stink," you have attempted to mislead the reader to believe that those are Adam's words. That is not what he said. So, your heading is a flat-out lie. Or did you simply choose to misquote him to stir the pot and serve your own purposes? Either way, poor journalism on your part. You need to realize that Adam's fans -- and I am one of them -- will be all over any lies and unwarranted attempts to dis our boy. We love Adam, and will vehemently defend him when called for. Adam-- we've got your back, baby.

I love Adam because he has no filter and he's honest to a fault. I can't imagine how it feels to be him but I do imagine that it is very overwhelming. I don't particularly like to make physical contact with people I don't know and especially if they are sweaty and stinky LOL! I will admit I am one of those older (46) women who is extremely attracted to Adam but I would never try to grope him, Adam is a sweet, genuine and classy guy and I'm sure he would appreciate just a nice, short conversation and maybe a hug (keeping my HANDS to myself) if I ever did get to meet him. One of the gazillion reasons why we love Adam is he's genuine and has a "no bull" attitude...he's telling it like it is and we love him for it and feel for him, with all the stuff being thrown at him and strangers grabbing him. I agree, the headline is very misleading, bordering on libelous. Shame on you for sensationalistic antics like that. I imagine some of those fans ARE pretty stinky after standing in the heat for hours, and I can understand anyone's reluctance to be hugging or even shaking hands with a sweating, smelly stranger, blecchh. Yeah, maybe Adam could be a little more circumspect in how he says things, but that's a function of training and maturity. He's still very young. He'll learn. It'll come. Yes Adam is rather unfiltered, and that's one of the things I love about him: He tells it like it is and he's refreshingly honest, but he has never been cruel or hateful toward his fans. He has always gone out of his way to express his gratitude to those who helped put him where he is today. Every celebrity has some overzealous fans, and Adam has endured some seriously kooky people this summer. I think it's a testament to his patience and good grace that he hasn't reacted with anger over some of that stuff; instead, he cracks jokes about it. Big deal. Stop trying to make controversy when there is none.
I think those fans are just out of control. They should know better. I'm sure they are no harm to Adam it's just some of Adam's fans have a weird sense of humor. Last year, there was a girl in my school who smelled so disgusting, it's not even funny. No one would tell her she smelled bad. I had to sit beside her for English everyday. My nose was just dieing from that HIDEOUS smell. Omg it was horrible. Ugh i can't imagine smelling more than 1 persons B.O! ewwwwww i would barf! Adam is just being honest.
