On Saturday evening, the annual White House Correspondents dinner took place. The event acts as a liaison between the President and the press.
Jay Leno served as host of the festivities and made sure to throw a few jabs at President Barack Obama. "He loves to socialize - health care, car companies," Leno remarked. Given Leno's own dirty laundry that has been made public over the last few months, President Obama said Leno was "the only person whose ratings fell more than mine."
Whether joking about the new immigration law in Arizona - "We know what happens in Arizona when you don't have an ID. ... Adios amigos" - or his own battle regarding the questionable status of his birthplace - "I happen to know that my approval ratings are still very high in the country of my birth" - Obama was game to have a good time and wasn't afraid to show it.
Apart from the usual guests that include press and politicians, the dinner is known for hosting a variety of celebrity guests as well. Some of the lucky recipients this year included Oscar nominated actress Anna Kendrick, comedian Bill Maher, director Steven Spielberg, late-night host Jimmy Fallon and this year's golden girl, Betty White.
