UK's The Mirror prints fake Robert Pattinson interview

Perhaps fake interviews are the sincerest form of flattery—the UK magazine, The Mirror, posted a Robert Pattinson "exclusive" tell-all, which the actor's rep called "manufactured."

In the interview, the actor supposedly revealed his single status, saying, "I don't have a girlfriend. I don't know why."

But the Gossip Cop (who astutely pointed out The Mirror's inability to spell "Twilight" correctly in the headline), was quick to call the magazine's bluff. The interview consists of what seems to be a combination of old Pattinson quotes, new information, incorrect statements, and completely fabricated material.

And in case you needed official confirmation that the error-laden interview was a fake, Gossip Cop received an official statement from Pattinson's rep:

I will only comment on matters regarding Robert’s professional life, but in order to set the record straight, Robert did not speak to the Mirror, and their claim that they spoke to him a few days ago is manufactured along with any information that they claim to have as an exclusive directly from him.

And there you have it.

Now, this I DO believe! I hope Rob pays his rep a lot of money.
He certainly has to filter out a lot of BS.

I must admit that I have enough journalistic frauds and hyenas, which can only feed on carrion. It is scandalous to be included fabricated from A to Z interviews with the actors. Both strikes us fans as well as those used in this case of Robert Pattinson. Summit impudence and rudeness. I feel sorry for Robert - the boy did not deserve such treatment. I do not think that Robert was with the hoax something in common. Does not seek publicity at the expense of SO. This advertising trick typical of Madonna, but not for Robert. And without such tricks, the boy prompts controversy in the media noise, does not need to seek attention - on the contrary runs against excessive interest.
