The MTV Video Music Awards started off with a bang, thanks in part to Madonna who paid respect to Michael Jackson, and to Kanye West who rushed the stage and managed to ruin Taylor Swift's winning moment.
Introducing an MJ dance medley featuring Janet Jackson, Madonna said, “All I could think about in that moment was I had abandoned him. That we had abandoned him. That we had let this magnificent creature who had once set the world on fire slip thorugh the cracks. Most of us had turned our backs on him. … There will never be anyone like him again. He was a king.”
“There’s a whole lot of crotch-grabbing and Moonwalking going on in my house,” she added, according to RollingStone.com, saying her two sons are huge MJ fans. “Long live the King!”
After Janet performed live along to a video of her hit song with brother Michael, "Scream," Taylor Swift won the night's first award for Best Female Video. Seconds into her acceptance speech, Kanye West rushed the stage and proclaimed that Beyonce in fact had one of the best videos of the year. The camera panned between Beyonce's shocked expression and Taylor's shaken up reaction. It's only 55 minutes into the show, and there's already been enough drama to keep people Tweeting for days.

I love Madonna even if I dont get along with her fans.
Why was Madonna even there speaking?
What Kanya did was disrectful to Taylor, the VMAs and mostly to the memory of Michael Jackson. On a night when we should have relived the memories of MJ, all they will be talking about is how Kanya disrepected the show, a very nice hard working kid and Michael Jackson. Kanya's Mother would be mortified. Kanya cannot spell mortified.

We recently released a hip hop music video tribute for Michael's birthday entitled, Shining. This is probably one of the most thoroughly produced MJ tribute videos out there... amazing costumes, great lyrics, and tons of memorable and rare MJ video clips. A must see if you love Michael, music, or videos.

i dont like how Kanye west disrespected taylor swift. it was rude and sooo tacky that when i saw how he just snatched the microphone away from her i started to cuss and i wasnt even the one he did that to! Just because he wanted beyonce to win. dont worry about it taylor! just think about who has the award and who doesnt! lol!!! keep your head up!
I love Madonna even more now and I thought her speech was well- crafted, honest, short but sweet.
Long live the Queen of Pop!
I'm now officially......... a Madonna fan @ ex- Kanye fan !
Madge did a great job. Her speech was touching and credible. She paid respect to Jackson with a lot of class, humanity and humility.
Well done, clever woman.
First of all, I am not a Madonna fan and don't intend to become one. However, for me, Taylor Swift is not merely the number one artist in country music, she is the number one artist relative to any genre of music.
I remember reading in an interview a while ago conducted with Taylor that she stated that many times she can tell whether an artist really put their heart in the music they wrote. Kanye's actions at the 2009 VMA awards seem to confirm that his heart is not entirely into his music. If I could tell Kanye one thing, it would be this: people need a reason to like you. Give them a reason to like you and they will support you. Both Taylor and Beyonce have done this and Kanye has not. Yes, Kanye is popular, but Taylor has clearly learned how to establish deeper and more meaningful relationships with people--which has dramatically effected the success of her career.
man forget kanye what he said was irrelevant to taylor swift and to hisself he probably cant even function correctely but taylor swift keep her head up coming from a young girl with dreams i envy you and everything you do
