With the loss of actress Brittany Murphy, her father, Angelo Bertolotti, is "still in shock" after his daughter's death early yesterday morning.

Murphy who went into full cardiac arrest where she was sent to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, has led many to mourn for the lost of the 32-year-old, including her not-so close father, Angelo Bertolotti.  Bertolotti tells Us Magazine, "There is nothing I can say. I can't believe this is happening. She was a young 32. She wasn't supposed to die like this."

However, Murphy's death may have shocked her father,  Bertolotti hasn't talked to his daughter in three years.  "Ever since she married that Simon [Monjack, in 2007], I lost contact with her. But I always kept track of her to make sure she was OK in case she needed me. She married him and everything changed. After that, we weren't so close."

Bertolotti who was reported by Associated Press to have been in the mob and have served some jail time on federal drug charges, also was divorced from Murphy's mother Sharon since Murphy was very young.  As a result Bertolotti and Murphy was not close.

Despite Bertolotti and Murphy not having the closest relationship, Bertolotti could only say good things about his daughter. "I miss her smile and her work ethic...Everyone she worked with loved her. That's who she was. She was loveable. There is nothing more I can say. I'm trying to make sense of this, and I can't."

Murphy's cause of death has not yet been determined.
