Sunday's "American Music Awards 2009" had some highs and some lows, but definitely made some news with Adam Lambert smooching his male keyboardist during his song, "For Your Entertainment."
The 27-year-old ex "American Idol" runner up, made some surprising moves at the AMAs, with millions of of viewers tuning in, and over 1,500 complaints about the "sexually charged" performance, according to Reuters.
Lambert who caught the attention with dragging men in leashes, along with some "oral sex" movements with back-up dancers, to kissing his keyboardist, said his "goal was not to p*ss people off, it was to promote freedom of expression and artistic freedom."
However, because of the time zones with the east and west coast, ABC did cut and edited out parts of the "racy" performance for the west coast.
Despite the complaints network television ABC received with Lambert's surprising performance, Lambert told CNN, "Adrenaline is a crazy, crazy, crazy feeling. Some of the things I love most about performing is when you're up there and all of the sudden you just have these feelings, this rush that comes over you."
Dick Clark Productions who produced the AMAs, earlier commented that they "did not expect" Lambert's impromptu, had an estimate of 14.2 viewers tuning in on the AMAs, following other racy moments in television including the MTV's 2003 Britney Spears and Madonna kiss, and NBC's Janet Jackson "slip-up" during the 2004 super bowl half time show.

If Lambert claims it was for "artistic freedom" what does he think about viewer freedom? If people are allowed to do whatever they want on TV, then networks need to provide more of a warning and let the viewers decide to boycott certain programs (or the whole channel). In our house, we have blocked certain channels. DON'T STEP ON MY VIEWER FREEDOM !!!!

Disgusting. I used to like him and was sorry he did not win American Idol, now I'm glad he didn't win. I will not buy his album nor will I watch any show that has him on it. ABC should have known what his segment would be all about and not allow him to tarnish such a great show.

The kiss was bad enough, but honestly I felt all the crotch grabbing, simulated oral sex etc was far more disgusting. I agree with Jane. I, too, was sorry he didn't win AI, but the performance at the AMA show proved his definite lack of class and was totally inappropriate for primetime network TV.
I was there and Adam Lambert rocked it!! There was so much energy coming from the stage it was unreal!! I didn't know who he was before that performance, and I loved it! Maybe if Madonna or Michael or Janet never did anything "racy" they wouldn't be what they are!! He's an entertainer, the song was for yor entertainment....I was throughly entertained!!
I'm glad people are complaining to the network. For me, his performance definitely crossed the line of Prime Time television viewing. He was respected as a musician and artist and didn't need a performance like that to solidify his place or even establish it. Unfortunately I think he has lost a lot of ground for himself and his career.
First off Adam is a brillant Artist, wether or not his performance was good or bad. I personally found it to be awesome, and people that r complaining about this has no life to take this so seriously. It was performed according to the lyrics. Whether or not the sexual overtones went too far (I think for primetime it did), my main issue is that the song and the performance SUCKED. This is a guy who tries to be so edgy w/ his appearance and he comes out and does a song that the aforementioned paula Abdul might have sung in 1986. It blew. He was singing too loud, was not in time w/ his back up singers and totally showboated his way through the song. It's like a guitarist who sdoes a long drawn out solo but leaves the integrity of the song in the crapper. He was screamin just because he can. And it was terrible.
I have been reading all of this stuff hear, and most of the ones hating on Adam, fail to remember the rappers/hip hop artist out there that r ten times worse then what adam did on the ama's. In today’s entertainment I am not surprised that Adam did what he did in stage. The music industry has always encouraged immoral behavior. However I was disappointed in the network allowing such a performance to air on television, it is no wonder why our young minds are out of order in morality. They have no role models to learn from. Some artists of today only think about fame not on the influence they have on our future. Shame on you Adam!!! Disgusted.
Adam's performance not only sucked; he REALLY can't sing but his attempt at being big enough to shock his audience was not only nasty but disgusting. It was nasty when Madonna did it and it's nastier with him doing it. What's wrong with prime time TV - don't you know children are watching? Get a grip or you're getting turned off.

You know what, I was in no way shape or form appauled by Adam's performance. Not in this day and age! We all know that his capabilities are endless, and this was yet one representation. I am hoping that his CD and future CD's will allow us to see/hear his many other jondras. He remains, in my eyes, most talented.

I really enjoyed Adams performances on American Idol. However, I think what Adam did on stage was disgraceful. There were many viewers and he was inappropriate.

I was totally disappointed in the music awards, this year. It did not showcase talent, it was a despicable display. What does America want from artists? I want to hear beautiful music from voices that have beautiful sound. It was just terrible all around.

for me the man on man kiss was not the biggest issue. it was the dog leashes, the oral sex moves, the provacative outfits. everything about the performance was far from wholesome. and for those who honestly believe that a man-woman kiss would have been more readily accepted... uh... no. no one wants to see that intermingled with their musical performances either. good music does not need to be intertwined with the private thing that is sex. i was a lambert fan on american idol but i guess thats because they set limits for him. everything about this crossed the line.
