Sunday's American Music Awards 2009 was definitely a news maker, but that doesn't mean it's making good news with certain critics.
Adam Lambert, the ex-American Idol runner up who shocked viewers by kissing his male guitarist on the AMAs, along with some "oral sex" moves, was said to be too "racy," so is that why Lambert was cancelled from performing on tomorrow's show of Good Morning America?
According to Us Magazine, Lambert's rep said, the 27-year-old was cancelled from Good Morning America "due to his performance and actions on stage."
Lambert who may have disappointed many viewers, received 1,500 complaints to ABC for his bit extreme performance. According to Associated Press, "ABC said more than 1,500 people complained, what it termed a "moderate" response."
Along with the complaints, president of The Parents Television Council, Timothy Winters, said about Lambert's viewers, "They're outraged. They just can't believe the nature of the content, the explicit nature, and how much graphic content there was."
Along with the "consequences" and complaints of the "racy" performance, ABC also said, "Given his controversial American Music Awards performance, we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning."
So what is Glambert going to do next after being cancelled from a scheduled performance on GMA? It has already been confirmed by his rep that he will be on tomorrow's morning show, The Early Show, on CBS.
Despite the controversial opinions of Lambert's "racy" performance, the singer has no apologies. The singer told Access Hollywood:
You know honestly, if I offended some people... it's apples and oranges. I'm not an artist that does things for every single person. believe in artistic freedom and expression, I believe in honoring the lyrics of a song, and those lyrics aren't really for everybody either."

It absolutely should have been canceled. I was a HUGE fan of AL on American Idol, but his performance at AMA was despicable. He's lost a fan in me for sure. Why would AMA bleep out the foul words of Eminem and other performer's lyrics and then allow AL's filthy actions to be seen uncensored? Shame on you.

i have a feeling since adam is gay, AMA probably didn't want to "offend" anyone in the gay community. as i noted in my piece on the subject in news.... adam is going for the shock impact now and wasting what could be a great career.

Thank you ABC -- this type of lewd behavior should not be shoved on the general public. He showcased "shock" more than he did his vocal talents. Unfortunately, his singing was way, way below par -- if you can call that singing!
I thought his performance was disgusting! I would rather have heard Eminem and Jayz's song in full than watch one second of Adam Lambert's performance. It was degrading to himself and every dancer and musician on the stage with him. We all know he's gay. Why does he feel like he needs to prove it?
I commend ABC for cancelling Adam's performance. If he would've been on, I most certainly would have turned the channels.
OMG!!! I Loved Adam on American Idol. However, His AMA performance just shows he is NOT a class act. I don't care if your gay fool! You don't have to shove it down our throats with your disgusting performance. I will never buy any of your CD's and I was looking forward to it coming out before I saw your tasteless AMA performance. Amazing that Janet Jackson can grab a crotch and her get grabbed, and Enineman can be beeped out for swearing many times, then when two men kiss that is offensive. Madonna tongued Brittany, and Christina, yet that is acceptable, so for me no more ABC, I am not into a station that picks and chooses what they feel is acceptable.
I would rather watch adam lambert kiss a guy than have a jerk like Kanye West Interrupt someone like Taylor Swift while she's making an acceptance speach for her award she so greatly deserved. He has a big mouth and should keep it shut. Go Adam, I think your still awesome and i am as straight as they come!
I'm outraged at GMA for cancelling Adam's performance. What are they doing, punishing him? It's not like he's going to change who he is and his always-surprising style of performance. Did you really think he would do the same thing again? No. It will be something completely new and exciting. ABC is listening to angry parents whose children shouldn't have been up watching the AMAs in the first place. Adam is a star.

They'll be begging Adam in the future...they just passed up a huge opportunity! Their producers are old and outdated and dont have the pulse of whats moving forward...shows if GMA doesnt get it together they wont be on the air that long or they'll just need new producers when their show starts to tank!! then they'll be begging for an Adam.
some people want to push the envelope and use sex to do it. I personally don't like public displays of affection, but that wasn't even affection. It was lewd. There's too much of that already, and just because some people such as the Jacksons and Madonna have "gotten away with it" so-to-speak doesn't mean other people should too.
I'm not old or outdated but I thought that AMA performance was rank. The other people you are mentioning grabbed their own crotches, not somebody else's and as for the head grabbing... the dog leashes... I don't care where you draw the line, that guy crossed it. I've seen him live and he's very good -- but he's gotten high on himself and thinks he's all that and a bag of chips. Not so much.
I was one of Adam's biggest fans. I still believe he is incredibly talented. I don't think he should resort to sex or shock value to sell an album. Whether homosexual or heterosexual it is sad that he obviously feels that he has to prove a point or use sex to sell music. It was distasteful and had no class at all. I was disappointed.
I have been and am a huge fan of Adam's talent. I must admit there were a couple of places in the performance that I, personally, thought were vulgar, but I honestly thought it was a girl he kissed, so that wasn't one of them. Also, I thought he did a great job of covering and converting his slip and fall to look like part of the performance. He did better than JLo who is a much more experienced performer. I still love his voice and range, so I, for one, am going to give him a chance to show he has more class than that performance revealed. I don't think GMA should have canceled him .... and I'm a 66 year-old Catholic widow,
