Brittany Murphy was sick and taking prescription drugs before dying

Actress Brittany Murphy died at 32 years old when she went into full cardiac arrest. Although the autopsy has yet to be performed, more information is becoming available that makes it appear as though the cause of Murphy’s death was not due to natural causes, as originally reported.

Brittany Murphy did have type 2 diabetes. TMZ reports that it is not believed that diabetes played a role in the cause of Brittany Murphy’s death. So what exactly did cause the actress to die then? Well, here is what we know about Murphy’s death so far.

According to TMZ, Brittany Murphy was taking prescription medications for “flu-like symptoms she had been experiencing for several days.”

However, it seems that the actress had been using prescription meds prior to her illness. A source told TMZ, “There were a lot…a lot of prescriptions in the house.”

Apparently, the prescription drugs had been written for Brittany Murphy, her mother, and her husband, Simon Monjack, who has already requested that no autopsy be performed on the body.

Despite rumors that cocaine may have been the cause of death, no illegal drugs were found by authorities in Brittany Murphy’s home.

Recently, Brittany Murphy’s neighbors had called authorities on her because the actress had been displaying erratic behavior.

Brittany Murphy was found by her mother in the shower. TMZ reports that there was a “significant amount of vomit in the immediate area” of the bathroom.

The fact that prescription drug abuse is likely the cause of Brittany Murphy’s death is very frightening. Hollywood has also recently lost Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson, and DJ AM due to the same cause.

According to Yahoo OMG!, an autopsy will be conducted on Monday to determine what the cause of Brittany Murphy's death was.
