People magazine gets first photo, statement from kidnap victim Jaycee Dugard

Celebrity magazine People was given exclusive access to Jaycee Dugard and her family for the first-ever cover story of the kidnap victim.

Dugard was held against her will for 18 years, taken from her South Lake Tahoe neighborhood at age 11. She lived primarily in the Antioch backyard of her captor, Phillip Garrido and his wife, Nancy, during her captivity. She had two of his children during her ordeal, but it would be her children that would ultimately lead authorities to her rescue.

"I'm so happy to be back with my family," she said.

Dugard, 29, now lives with her mom, Terry Probyn, 50, and the two daughters – Angel, 15, and Starlit, 11 – where she rides horses, cooks meals and is thinking of collaborating on a book, People reports.

For the full story on Dugard's new life – including stunning photographs of her family – pick up the new issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday.
