Comic-Con 2010 leftovers

With Comic-Con 2010 officially wrapped up, fans of the "popular arts" can catch up on some much needed rest before prepping themselves for next year.

With so much to report on, I've whipped up some tasty little leftover snippets from my interviews with some of the Con's biggest celebrities to share with you here. Without further ado...

SyFy's Caprica cast is really accessible: From photos to open conversations about their characters and upcoming season, the cast of Caprica is there for you. Magda Apanowicz (Lacey Rand) teased that fans will get to see more of the other planets that make up the 12 colonies of Kobol, including Gemenon. She added that her character is in for a crazy ride in the next upcoming nine episodes. Also, Sasha Roiz (Sam Adama) and Alessandra Torressani (Zoe Greystone) are really, really, really good-looking.

Seth Green is as much a fan as he is a celeb guest: Green and his new bride, Clare Grant, strolled down the carpet wearing animal hats they bought from a floor vendor at the Con. As Green put it, "We're fans, which is why I think we get the reception we do because we like this stuff as much as the people who pay to get in here." And if you ever want to find Green, he says he's usually on the floor everyday during the show.

James Marsters isn't his first choice for coolest vampire: The former Buffy The Vampire Slayer star's fave bloodsucker? That would be Gary Oldman's Dracula in Francis Ford Coppola's film version. "Gary motherf*ckin' Oldman. I don't care if that film is not a perfect film, he was so awesome in that film. He was just amazing." Catch Marsters these days on SyFy's Caprica.

Author Charlaine Harris. Photo: D. Samaniego

Charlaine Harris was by far the Southern Belle of the Con: The author of the Sookie Stackhouse book series (in which True Blood is based on) is humble and proud of what's become of the world she created. "To come to Comic-Con is like a whiplash thing, but fun too. It's always great to get feedback from people who love the books and also the show." She added that she's in love with the show despite the liberties it takes with her original creation. "When you've got a talented director and great writers and great actors, who could not enjoy it? I love seeing Alan Ball's vision of what I've done. It's incredible seeing it through someone else's eyes."

Which made the True Blood cast the rock-stars of the Con: From the lead actors such as Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette) and Rutina Wesley (Tara) to the side-characters like Kristen Bauer van Straten (Pam) and Joe Manganiello (Alcide) and guest-stars like Denis O'Hare (Russell Edgington), the True Blood cast rocked. Ellis said he's happy to be such a cool character who happens to be gay. "Lafayette exists in the world, so to step into a character that is legitimate in the world is cool...and I'm happy with representing whoever." As O'Hare, who plays the King of Mississippi, said, "It's good to be the king."

Some Dexter side characters will get their day in the sun in the upcoming season: C.S. Lewis promised more from his character, Masuka, this coming season, including some skin! David Zayas was not so open with secrets involving his character, Angel Bautista, but did say there will be time dedicated to his recent marriage to Lt. Maria Laguerta (Lauren Velez) and the struggles new couples can face.

Scott Adsit. Photo: D. Samaniego

30 Rock's Scott Adsit confirms that Tracy Morgan is, in fact, Tracy Jordan: When asked which was crazier, Comic-Con or his co-star on 30 Rock, Adsit (who plays Pete Hornberger) laughed. He then replied, "Tracy Morgan."

Eli Roth likes to roam the Con in a Mexican wrestling mask: In non-related news, the Hostel director says he's working on a script based on his Grindhouse trailer, Thanksgiving.

The Smallville cast is hot: From Justin Hartley (Oliver Queen/Green Arrow) to Cassidy Freeman (Tess Mercer) and Erica Durance (Lois Lane), these attractive kids could easily be one reason why Smallville has managed to stay on the air for nine seasons. As the cast prepares for the 10th and final one, Hartley says he's rooting for an Oliver and Chloe (Allison Mack) happy ending and fans can also expect to see his character "beat some ass." Durance, who admitted that it's been surreal playing such an iconic character, said fans should be satisfied with the Lois/Clark wrap-up. "They deserve to see the end. They've waited it out and I hope they're happy with what we give them."

Simon Helberg is NOT Howard Wolowitz: The Big Bang Theory actor added that none of his co-stars are like their characters, though they share little things in common with them. "Jim (Parsons) is obviously not at all like Sheldon in a sense that he's not a maniac, but he's particular about things. And I care about my clothes and I think Johnny (Galecki) is probably one of the cooler ones in our cast. I think we all got little similarities, but obviously, thank God, we can easily walk away from them too."

And that's about all, folks. About the only thing left up my sleeve will be my roundtable interviews from the Community cast, so come back for that!

I love it all! Damn, Alessandra is a little hottie! As for Nelsan, he actually sounds a little like Lafayette when he talks. ;)
