At tonight's BET Awards, a collection of artists came together to commemorate Michael Jackson's career and the legacy he left behind. Rumor has it that Chris Brown was among those who were to take part in the tribute, but was pulled at the last minute.
The rumor was fueled by one of Chris Brown's dancers, who tweeted "Jay-Z is mad childish. Never keep a person from paying there [sic] respect."
Before the show's start, chief executive of BET Debra L. Lee told the Associated Press that the show would be undergoing "a total overhaul" and performers and performances would be changed and added.
The award show's producer, Ron Weisner, told Billboard.com, "A day and a half ago, we had one show and today we have a whole other show. Overnight, literally, it changed. The show was completely rewritten, we booked additional people -- we're trying to address a very unfortunate situation."
"It's something we had to deal with at the very last minute," Weisner added. "I wish we didn't have to, but it's just a fact of life."
Joe Jackson, Michael Jackson's father, made an appearance at the awards show, saying, "I just wish he could be here to celebrate himself. Sadly, he's not here, so I'm here to celebrate for him."

Next time if they are willing to do a tribute too MJ they should have Chris Brown perform MJ's hits and his moves. BET was really BAD and BORING the only thing good was when Janett came out on stage it was really emotional.
If JZ was the cause of Chris Brown not performing, he is very immature. The BET Awards was terrible. Chris Brown would have bought so much to the MJ Tribute. I thought the only good acts were NeYo during his tribute. He's the only one that did justice for MJ! I hope Chris' team put together a great tribute to MJ. JZ didn't even rip the show. Beyonce did good - but neither did a tribute to MJ. How lame of BET if they were bullied to cancel Chris' performance.

I watched the BET awards only because I thought Chris Brown was going to perform. I didnt care to see anyone thing else. What he did was wrong, however, he is the only one that could have done MJ justice.
This really angered me because I wanted to see Chris Brown! It's funny that Jay Z would keep him from performing because he hit Rihanna but Jay Z was recorded muffing and punching a female reporter of some sort. I thought "You should never hit a woman?" Anyway, the point is, we all deserve second chances and the whole show shouldn't have been affected by the Chris-Rihanna situation because it was a "MICHAEL JACKSON TRIBUTE." All those artists on that staged expressed their appreciation for Mike and Chris couldn't because of JAy...please like he's any better. Chris is the only one out right now that can do Michael Jackson any justice...and the show sucked! I know they were paying respects to Michael but it was not good. I think they should have had a short tribute to him and kept the rest of the show the same and BET could organize a separate show in dedication to Michael JAckson and Celebs can come out and perform and pay respects and ofcourse broadcast it.
Jay-z allowed his immaturity to shine last night. The show was dedicated to Michael Jackson, supposedly, so why not let the only man who obviously can only do real justice perform? The sickening part of the whole ordeal is that the Jackson's requested Chris' appearance be made. Wasn't it only a few years back that Jay reportedly stabbed someone and then like someone mentioned earlier, didn't he smack a woman on camera? What a hypocrite!

The BET Awards highly disappointed me. Not only was it a hot mess, but they decided to cut Chris Brown off at the last minute.

They should have kept the BET Awards the BET Awards and later this week plan a whole show dedicated to him, telling his life story and having people perform his music from Jackson 5 all the way to the 90s. The BET Awards wasn't about much anyways. Just another half done show. Chris would've made it better. As for Jay-Z, he's not innocent too. He's had his share of assaults to women, not to mention an illegitimate child whom he doesn't claim and gave the mother a house and hush money so don't tear Chris down. As far as Rihanna...had any of you been in that situation with your mate, I GUARANTEE you that she wouldn't gave your situation to 2 seconds of a thought which is why I don't care about her getting beat up.
As for Chris Brown, it doesn't matter how people feel about him personally, he should've been allowed to perform a tribute to his mentor regardless of what he did. Most performers last night have a sketchy past themselves.

Unfortunately Chris was not allowed to perform last night. Go on line and see how many tributes to Michael Jackson were done by Chris Brown before June 25, 2009. Now go see how many were done by all of the other performers combined. Enough said!! The good thing is that MJ probably saw all of the tributes done by Chris because they were done while MJ was alive when it mattered! Hopefully someone will do a real tribute show and include Chris who was truly one of MJ's biggest fans!

Chris Brown only has Chris Brown to blame for not being on the BET Awards. His recent dumb criminal behavior should have consequences (feel the same about R. Kelly and football player Dante Stallworth). As it is they are all getting off easy. Wish Usher could've made it from over seas to do MJ justice since Cris messed it up.
