Conan O'Brien possibly to be hosting show on Fox

What was NBC's loss is Fox's gain. It turns out the tall ginger former host is in talks with sometimes-rival Fox.

Inching closer to being back to late night, Rupert Murdoch (who has ceased freaking out B.A. Baracus) and several other high-ups at Fox are trying to iron out the exact details, but so far it appears a likely possibility that he may re-debut on May 17 to coincide with the network's new line-up.

Many sources were asked to be not be identified, given the touchy nature of these proceedings, and everything could also fall through.

Mostly relying on local re-runs as part of their revenue (remember, watching Seinfeld at 10 o'clock isn't just an enjoyable leisure activity it's part of your duty), it's a gray area how many affiliates would once again go on a risky venture, especially with someone as experimental a style of comedy as O'Brien. Thankfully Conando is still shown on Telemundo.

If I may editorialize here a bit, this is thrilling news for me, being a HUGE Conan fan. Late Night was absolutely classic and I felt he missed a step or two with the Tonight Show (probably more the fault of the network making him tame his act down) and for him to not be on the airwaves, no matter how rich or comfortable he is, is a crime. Of course the suits there don't recognize his genius and instead stick with the same old tired formula in Jay Leno, failing to see this will backfire on them after screwing over a loyal employee in Conan. Alright, that should get some venom and bile going in the comments section.

No word on if he'll re-hire the Fedex Pope and bring him along for this possible new gig.
