News came yesterday that Avril Lavigne ex Deryck Whibley, of the power pop band Sum 41, was reportedly the victim of a bar attack in Osaka, Japan on Thursday.
According to EOnline.com, a few men rumbled with Whibley. The rocker's band is in Asia playing the Summer Sonic 2010 rock festival -- but his plans were somewhat hindered as he was taken to a Japanese hospital.
Late last night, Sum 41 posted Whibley's condition on their site:
'After an MRI scan, it appears Deryck has slipped a disc in his back once again. Despite doctor's instructions, he has decided to play today's show at Summersonic [sic] regardless.'
So it's on with the show as Canadian group Sum 41's Derek Whibley, ex-husband of Avril Lavigne carries on despite his serious injuries. Take care, rocker man.
