Our beautiful first lady Michelle Obama wore what some consider short shorts, when she went to the Grand Canyon with her family. Her choice to wear shorts is being highly criticized by some members of the media and the public. Please have a look at the pictures of Michelle Obama, and tell us if you think her clothing choice was inappropriate for a first lady.
Many people seem to believe that Michelle Obama should never wear shorts in public. She didn't exactly wear a pair of Daisy Dukes. If she chose to wear shorts that short, we could understand the drama. In all fairness, Michelle Obama's shorts were mid-thigh length.
Michelle Obama is a younger and more hip than the former First Lady, Laura Bush was. In the past, Mrs. Obama seemed to always dress appropriately in public. Was it so wrong of her to wear shorts during a summer vacation stop? Apparently some Americans think so.
In the "scandalous" photos President Obama is dressed in long pants and a polo shirt, while Michelle and the Obama girls wore shorts.

Small minded people have negative comments on Mrs Obamas shorts. I seen worst. Just take a look in the area you live. Stop hatian. This First Lady is an awsome person ans a family minded lady whom is all about her family as weel as the children growing up now.

The issue isn't her shorts. The issue is the style she chose (gym clothes!). If Michelle is such a fan of J Crew, then maybe she should have chosen an ensemble from that store. J Crew has many classy styles of mid-thigh/knee length shorts and tops that would have been more appropriate for a First Lady (and her daughters).
How petty are we as a country when a pair of shorts worn by the first lady makes the news? This country has more important issues that should be addressed.

I'm no first lady and even I wouldn't have worn that outfit! She is, after all, a representative of our country. If you want to be taken seriously, you should err on the side of caution with wardrobe choices. A summer dress or tailored shorts with a nice top would have been more appropriate. And what's with the sport sandals and sneakers? She NEVER would have dressed like that during the election!
First, we need to remember this was a "weekend" vacation. Second, there is nothing wrong with the shorts. If the media can only pick on this - I think Michele must be doing something right! (And I am not a fan of hers) I believe our country has much more important stuff to be worrying about - like world economics; healthcare (oh yeah that was the purpose of the weekend); wars/violence in multiple parts of the world. If she were attending a state function and she wore that outfit, I could understand people being upset. But were on their family vacation visiting the Grand Canyon. What'd you expect her to wear, a ballgown? People need to ease up on their critiques of how politicians and celebrities and their families dress during their free time and focus on themselves.

I'm still trying to figure out who is "outraged" by her shorts. I've seen numerous articles about this and they all state that there are people outraged over her shorts, but I've yet to see an article explaining who it is. Could this just be made up?

I'm a 64 year(Illinois) female senior citizen and I've never, ever, seen any "first lady" wearing shorts (even if she was on a family vacation). Michelle believes she's still a "senator wife" rather than a "president".
