Usher takes on a heartfelt Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in Tennessee

ABC/ Ty and Usher

R&B superstar Usher Raymond will join the hit ABC show Extreme Makeover tonight with the crew in a special home edition. He will travel back to his home state Tennessee to help rebulid a home for Clarksville family :Trina Scott and her three daughters ( Leyla 17, Deide, 13, and Alethea, 11).

This family lost a husband and father Dave, whom was an officer killed in the line of duty. The show will air tonight at 8/7pm cst. (This episode will air tonight but it was actually filmed on Oct. 17, 2009.)

According to Clarksville Online, Trina, 44 lost her husband in 2002 when he and his partner were struck violently in their police car by a truck. The car spun out of control and, hit a guardrail, caught fire and killed them both. After grieving, Trina became busy with helping others who lost their loved ones while in the line of duty through an organization called C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc.)

Although, Trina faced a life changing experience in losing her husband, she has volunteered since 2002 to help the organization and in 2003 she became President. She maintained a full time job, and worked diligently through G.O.P. and is a single parent raising three girls.

This will be heart wrenching episode to watch a Tennesse family receive a much needed home makeover from Ty Pennington, designers Michael Moloney, John Littlefield, Paige Hemmis, local builders Duncan & Duncan Construction, Singletary Construction, community volunteers and special guest Usher.

Usher said, "I was motivated to help the family when I heard about their ability to continue to serve their community even after suffering a loss," Usher said. "Not only was it great to help a family that is from my home state, but this family exemplified giving back to the community."

According to Yahoo, "The crew and volunteers united together from across the nation to build the Scotts home. And interesting enough, it only took them six days to rebuild the home." While, their home was reconstructed , the family flew to California where they met Selena Gomez on the set of "Wizards of Waverly Place" and they went on a vacation to DisneyWorld.

Usher describes the experience in saying: "The Scotts and volunteers were excited when they saw me on the set. "It was an ultimate emotional moment."The effort was amazing. "We did it in actually less than a week. It's almost unimaginable and unrealistic, watching it, but very powerful. It speaks to the testament that there is power in numbers and volunteerism does make a difference."

Usher said, "There were tears, hugs, crying, and screaming in October when he taped the segment of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."

He also admitted, "I am looking forward to reliving [this moment] Sunday when I take a look."

After , being a part of the experience Usher decided to help the cause by donating $25,000 from his charitable organization to the Scott Family to help them and the community. He even, currently offers $500 grants nationwide for youth 12-20. ( It is only for social entrepreneurship projects and community service.)

Usher's sixth studio album, "Raymond Vs. Raymond," will be released in February. His latest popular single "Papers" is No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. For more information on how your youth can be a part of Usher's organizations visit: PowerByService.org or Ushersnewlook.org.

This is a really good thing that Usher did for this family, especially since it was in "MY HOMETOWN" of Clarksville, TN. If only more celebs would take the time out to help out the community and fans like this it would be a better world. We the people make regular people famous and off of that fame I believe that those same people should give back. This was a very well written article. Keep up the good work Ms. Thomas
