Manolo Blahnik
Any Sex and the City fan knows Carrie can't live without her coveted Manolo Blahniks. Unfortunately, the high-end shoe designer says he is "sick" of all of the attention -- mainly because he never wanted to be a celebrity designer.
The Spanish-born designer, 66, recently told The Sunday Telegraph, "If people talk to me about Sex and the City, it makes me sick."
He adds, "The taxi drivers recognize me now. It becomes too much and I don't feel comfortable. I have never wanted to be a celebrity designer."
In the late 1990s, the luxury heels became a staple on the hit HBO series, cementing the brand into pop culture.
Despite the uncomfortable attention, Blahnik admits Sarah Jessica Parker and her gal pals gave his business a major boost over the years.
He says, "Well, we had a very good year last year, thanks to those stupid satin shoes (which SJP's character Carrie Bradshaw wore in the Sex and the City movie). That shoe saved our company."
As Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte all gathered in New York City on Tuesday (September 8) to begin shooting scenes for Sex and the City II, fans can only hope -- and Blahnik can only dread -- the luxury heels will also make another long-awaited appearance.
