The 1994 marriage license of Lisa Marie Presley and the late Michael Jackson is set for the auction block in New York come January (10).
Auctioneer Philip Weiss feels the document will be in high-demand as interest in the King of Pop increased, following his untimely death in June.
Weiss explains:
"Anything relating to Michael Jackson is of extreme interest right now because of his untimely death and the release of the movie (This Is It), but when you have an item that combines his name and legend with the Presley name and legend - their marriage certificate no less - with both of their signatures on it, you've got something that's almost impossible to predict what it will bring at auction."
The Jackson/Presley document was issued, following a 15-minute ceremony on May 26, 1994 in the Dominican Republic.
As previously reported, another prized piece of Jackson memorabilia, the Andy Warhol portrait of the "Thriller" hitmaker, was recently up for auction and sold for $812,000 in Los Angeles on Tuesday (November 10).
The marriage between Jackson and Elvis Presley's daughter lasted nearly two years, with Lisa Marie filing for divorce in January 1996.
