I looked forward to the enjoyment of Deadliest Catch new seasons with great anticipation every year. This captain/father/husband was a real man that fought the odds day in and day out to provide for his family. There are too few of these types of men left in this world. My prayers go out to his family and loved ones and everyone on the Deadliest Catch. I am sure once you loose a man you admire it must take a part of you with him. In his honor I thank you all for putting your lives on the line for others to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Phils family especially his boys.Phil was my favorite captain. You could tell (not to insult any crew members) when he first got sick last year and he put his boat in the hands of his good friend, they just couldn't get on the crab but,as soon as he came back He was right on. I guess he knew what to do"smell crab Farts". Good night good friend we will miss you.
Phil we will miss you. Boys, you are in our prayers - know that your father REALLY loved you - that was obvious.
Josh & Jake,
Iwas very sad to hear this news this morning about your dad. I feel like I have lost a friend. I hope in time you and your family will be able to heal from your loss.
Sadly I had a feeling he would pass when I heard about the stroke. I hoped my feeling was wrong but now I know that it wasn't. He was an everyman, an unlikely TV star that didn't let it go to his head like some of the other guys on the show. It brings a bit of peace knowing that he was doing what he loved and lived to do when he suffered the stroke.
That's so sad. He was a man that certainly lived life to the fullest. May he rest in peace.
He was too young die. My heart goes out to his family.

By far the most real captain in the show. He was my favourite fisherman in the show. I agree with the sentiments of some that it felt like losing a friend.
