Will Mariah be dropped again from a label?

Several people all over the Internet are asking whether or not Def Jam Records will drop Mariah Carey from their label after she just unleashed one of the most glitterish bombs in recording arts history.
By dropping Mariah Carey, perhaps Def Jam will send a message to the music industry that they will not tolerate chart manipulation, bad singing, and bullying from artists on their label. They will also be able to concentrate on younger and more focused acts if they drop the human dog whistle known as Mariah Carey.
However, Def Jam may be able to remarket Mariah Carey. If they market Mariah towards her original adult contemporary pop audience rather than the gangsta rap teens they are failing at marketing to, perhaps Mariah can make a comeback.
Def Jam also understands that people love a comeback. Even though Britney Spears and Whitney Houston have released only pretty good (but not great) albums, they sold based on "comeback" hype. Perhaps Mariah can fake another breakdown, get divorced, become a drug addict (she doesn't have to actually do the drugs - they can lie about this), and then claim she hit a new low, people will cheer for her again. Audiences love the underdogs and Mariah used the underdog hype with the below average The Emancipation of Mimi.
Either way, one can bet it will be a busy week for the higher-ups at Def Jam Records. Lets hope their decision is good for their company, Mariah, and the record industry in general.

This is her last CD under contract so either she will resign or part ways on her own call. Also considering they paid Madonna over 100 million 4 a 10 yr. deal over @ Live Nation, I think Mariah will have a better deal w/ them instead especially if you paid attention that it was Live Nation producing her Vegas Shows.

Whitney Houston can sing better. Whitney doesn't whisper her way through songs. She also doesn't embellish her recordings in the studio to make them sound better on the final released product, Mariah does. Which is why Mariah must lip-synch to those recordings when she performs "live" (wink-wink). But I think what Sue is doing is presenting the other side so everyone can get a fair view. Selling Loverboy single at .99cts when singles were about $2.99 at that time, and selling Memoirs... album at $6 at some establishments are forms of chart manipulation. The cheap price will help an established act rise up the charts quicker than the competition. Then her people will brag about how many Top 10 singles she's had or how many albums she's sold overall, without going into details of things that were done to get there. Sue really does have a right to comment on these things. Now Mariah is not in danger of getting dropped from the label, but if the next album after Memoirs fails, she may be.
This article is really stupid. Mariah's album is only "flopping" in comparison to old Mariah albums. It's still managing to be one of the best sellers of the year, and produced a top 10 single. If anything, Mariah will be dropping IDJ for their lack of promo.
Susan, what is this that you be bashing this successful woman, Mariah, who worked her a** off for 20 something years of singing?
