The expert at no promotion
(Source: AP)
Lots of Madonna fans were really excited when they heard Madonna was supposed to host and perform on Saturday Night Live. The woman hasn't shown a sense of humor in years, so this would have been a perfect opportunity to prove she is still human.
Madonna's Saturday Night Live appearance would have been a perfect opportunity to promote Celebration, a worthwhile greatest hits set that nobody seems to know about because Madonna doesn't believe in promoting her albums anymore. What went wrong?
A source tells us that in order to perform two songs (one would have been an acoustic 'Live to Tell"), Madonna needed far more rehearsal time on SNL's stage than they would have allowed. She also allegedly refused to rehearse on a Friday for some reason. Eventually, SNL decided that she wasn't worth the trouble and Madonna, being the absolute perfectionist, decided that it wasn't worth it either.
Instead, fans will be able to "enjoy" Madonna's appearance on David Letterman this Wednesday. We can already predict what she'll talk about: Kaballah, kids, Michael Jackson, Israel, and Lady Gaga. Oh, she might even talk about the Celebration album!

Madonna is the Queen and all what she says is absolutely interesting. It si obviously not the case of this "article".
Alex, it's obvious this girl is a Madonna fan - a disappointed one. But she still supports Madonna and said great things about Celebration.
i'm a fan, but agree that M does not promote her stuff anymore. even her videos, which she used to be known for, are lackluster. the last few look like they were thrown together in minutes. there's no plot or story. she just gyrates and then the footage is strung together. hopefully she'll go back to caring with the move to LiveNation complete after this album.
oh, and madonna doesn't work on Fridays...she doesn't even perform shows while on tour on Fridays. it's got something to do with Kabballalala and the belief that it should be the day of rest--so that's why she wouldn't rehearse on Fri.
She doesn't make great videos any more because she doesnt have to. Aspiring artists need to establish themselves so need great videos. But M knows that great videos are expensive, so she keeps costs down and the net profit is probably the same as for some Beyonce or Gaga videos.
Maybe she isn't spending much time with promoting this album because its her last record with Warner...which wouldn't match her deal that she got with Live Nation. So she isn't going to spend much time promoting it for a company that she's already party ways with.
I bet she will really promote her next studio album which will be her first album with Live Nation. I think her contract also gives her shares in live nation, so she's got an extra incentive to promote the next 10 or so albums
By now, I think it is clear that Sue Bergerstein's article's are generated by some artificial intelligence that is not benig kept quite up to date!
Not promoting her albums? can anyone promote their albums any more??? Hard Candy promotional campaign was a first of it's kind - we practically overdosed and it managed to get her straight into #1 in 40 countries - not that I think the album was worth it really. And she went on a massive tour less than a year after she had completed her previous one, including 70% Hard Candy material in her live set.
We've been hearing about celebration for a year now - the cover leaked - the new singles leaked - promo videos - articles...
Sue, if you are human - you need to snap out of whatever frequency you've been zapped into dear
take care :)
oh and - i agree with Julius her videos for Hard Candy and Confessions were, hmmm, boring and plain
the Fan Based Celebration cut is quite fun though
Whats the point of running around promoting a bunch of old songs, on a bunch of old shows, EVERYONE knows anyway? Its a compilation album, not all new material. She is more than likely waiting for the real blitz of promotion for the first album of new material with her new label. After pulling in about 700 million (or more) from two tours in the last 4 years, I would say she deserves a much needed break.
I am curious to know where the comment from someone named Litice has gone. Apparently it was deleted? Way to work that whole Freedom of Speech thang, Sue. In essence, Litice listed all of the things Madonna talked about in her fun Letterman interview...NONE of which matched the predictions that Sue made. It also hinted at a possible Madonna SNL appearance, scooping "journalists" like Sue.
BOOOM to you Sue as Madonna DID appear on SNL's Sat 3 Oct ep in a skit w LadyGaga.
.... Sue your slant in this article is obvious. How are you a contributor and you dont do research. Madonna is Kabbalah & that is y she doesnt rehearse on Friday. Arent you jewish( im guessing from your name bernstein), so if you're a religious jew you dont do anything either from sundown fri- sundown saturday.
Sue -- why was my earlier remark censored & deleted? Was it because I listed one by one all the things you inaccurately predicted about Madonna's Letterman appearance? Was it because I let you know Madonna would indeed be making an SNL appearance? or was it because I suggested you give it up & scrub toilets? Just curious which was the most offensive remark, since they all remain accurate.
Got something to say?
