Tilda Swinton is coming to Houston

British actress Tilda Swinton, who recently made headlines by feuding with Donald Trump, will be gracing Houston with her presence for the 2009 Cinema Arts Festival.  The Worlds of Tilda Swinton is a series of events showcasing the Academy Award winner's accomplishments, along with a preview of her upcoming independent work.

Swinton's newest work will be showcased on Nov. 14 at the Brown Auditorium at the Museum of Fine Arts.  The director of the film will also be on hand, and they'll be around for a post-screen chat.

Moving away from her acting skills, the next film in the series to be shown is Derek, a feature documentary that Swinton wrote and narrated about painter and filmmaker Derek Jarman.  Swinton performed in seven of Jarman's films, and the two had worked together since 1986.  Their history should provide for an interesting discussion following the screening, which will also include the Festival's curator, Richard Herkowitz.  Immediately following is the 2002 film Teknolust, in which Swinton plays multiple roles.

The finale, held at Discovery Green, will open with a performance by Houston Ballet II.  Then, Swinton will introduce the 1948 film The Red Shoes.
