Drew Carey reveals his 80 pound weight loss (Photos)

Drew Carey debuted his amazing 80 pound weight loss this week. The Cleveland native who says it "sucks" to be over weight is known for his comedy act as well as his latest gig on 'The Price is Right.'

Drew Carey showed off his weight loss in an appearance at the CW TCA Party in Beverly Hills on Wednesday. "I was diabetic with Type-2 diabetes."

Carey, who has starred in shows such as 'The Drew Carey Show' and 'Who's Line Is It Anyway?' revealed that the secret to his weight loss was hard work.

Drew Carey claims to have altered his diet, cutting out much of the carbs. He also says he hit the gym on a regular basis. Carey said he has dropped 80 pounds since January. "I'm not diabetic anymore. No medication needed."

"No carbs," Carey says. "I have cheated a couple times, but basically no carbs, not even a cracker. No bread at all. No pizza, nothing. No corn, no beans, no starches of any kind. Egg whites in the morning or like, Greek yogurt, cut some fruit."

"I like being skinny," says Drew Carey. "I was sick of being fat on the camera. Really, I just got sick of it. Once I started losing weight, again, like once I started dropping a couple pant sizes, then it was easy 'cause once you see the results, then you don't wanna stop."

"Drew Carey looks great," said one Cleveland resident. "It's awesome when someone can get their body in shape and clear up medical conditions." What do you think of Drew Carey's 80 pound weight loss? Leave your comments below.

Cutting carbs IS a fad diet and will not maintain his wt loss in the long run. It is NOT ok to cut out ANY food group - especially carbohydrates when you are a diabetic. It's just about watching portion sizes, making healthy choices, not overeating + physical activity. Wt loss is not quick and easy but it is a basic concept: calories in = calories out (via exercise). 80# in 6 months is not entirely a healthy wt loss, either. 1-2# per week is healthy, anything over that is not true wt loss - it's mostly water wt that you are losing and when you restrict carbohydrates you lose water wt fast and do not hold us much water, but once you start eating carbohydrates again when you have acheived your wt loss goal the wt will start to creep back on. I have never commented on anything like this before, but as a registered dietitian with a Master of Science in nutrition, I felt that it was necessary to get this out there for anyone who reads this to hear.

.."not diabetic anymore" Sorry, but that's nonsense. You're asymptomatic, Drew. Without symptoms. But you remain a diabetic. Ask any doctor. If you keep it off, you fend off the dreaded pitfalls associated with type 2. But keeping it off for the rest of your life is the biggest challenge you're ever likely to face. As a type 2 myself, I wish you well.

Being a fatty myself, I know what drew means when he said it's no fun to be fat. Shortness of breath walking just a short distance, being miserable in hot 'n humid weather, clothes look like crap no matter how much you pay and (probably the worse feeling of all) the stares from truly ignorant, hateful people! Congrats, DREW!!!!!

Jena is probably right in a way.. but I think that Drew has enough of a mind to understand that he needs to be careful when/if incorporating carbs back into his diet. He's probably been eating rice or some other 'healthier' carbs anyhow... I doubt very much that he or anyone could completely cut out a whole food group for such a long period. And, as Drew has mentioned, he did 'cheat' a little.. Jena is being a little hard and not giving Drew any kudos for having general common sense - he's a clever man, and I think it's fabulous that he took control of his lifestyle and feels/looks wonderful now. Cheers & standing ovations Drew! Love ya ~ look after yourself first always & keep a check on the diabetes x

I was so worried about you getting another heart attack. You're smart, kind, funny and, of course, so cute. But you gave me so much laughter and I hoped you would finally give it a go. Thank goodness you did.

Yes, diabetes never really goes away, but you can get stronger.

Thanks so much for wanting to stick around. Thanks so much for the great tears of laughter.

    Be blessed and well.

Awesome! Drew Carey looks great and it's fantastic that he's corrected his body chemistry where the diabetes is concerned!

I've been doing South Beach diet since January and have lost 54 pounds by following the carb-cutting principles and doing cardio workouts 3-4 times per week. I have re-introduced several forms of carbs back into my diet but just keep it in check. It works!
