Amanda Seyfried demanding more money for 'Mamma Mia' sequel? (video)

Amanda Seyfried asking for more money to do a 'Mamma Mia' sequel?

February 03, 2010 -- Amanda Seyfried's star is rising. The actress who we all fell in love with as one of Lindsay Lohan's "plastic" friends in 'Mean Girls' and saw evolve in the HBO series 'Big Love' is well on her way to an impressive career. After hitting it big staring next to Meryl Streep in the musical 'Mamma Mia' Seyfried's face is more well known that ever.

'Mamma Mia' later became the most successful musical in box office history. Now, Seyfried's being offered the chance to reprise her role as Sophie Sheridan in next year's follow up to the successful musical.ShowBiz Spy is reporting that Seyfried will in deed be back for a 'Mamma Mia' sequel which co star Meryl Streep has already agreed to, if she gets a pay raise.

Seyfried is reportedly asking for $7.5 million to return to the big screen as Sophie Sheridan, lovable doe eyed daughter to Meryl Streep's character Donna Sheridan.

"Amanda's developing a reputation as an actress who is very ambitious when it comes to money and credit," a source told the National Enquirer. "She really hides behind her good-girl image."

According to comingsoon.net it was Seyfried who confirmed the possibility of a 'Mamma Mia' sequel. "I've been talking to some insiders and it's not something that they haven't been working on. I don't actually know anything other than that," she told BBC. "I know it's still going to be Abba music, because what else would it be? Come on, I wouldn't do Mama Mia 2 without Benny and Bjorn."

But Seyfried's co star Colin Firth is claiming that Abba founder Benny Anderson was not crazy about the idea of his music being used for a second 'Mamma Mia' film.

Whether the rumors are true or not Seyfried is building herself a good body of work and is surly on her way to the top. Seyfried's latest project is the highly anticipated movie 'Dear John' which opens on Friday, February 5th. Seyfried plays the role of college student Savannah Curtis who falls in love with co star Channing Tatum's character John while he's on leave from the army. The movie is based on the book of the same name by Nicholas Sparks who also wrote The Notebook, Message In a Bottle, and A Walk to Remember.

The two endure a difficult relationship when the terrorist attack on September 11th forces John to chose between defending his country or ending his military career to be with the love of his life. To check Cleveland area showtimes for 'Dear John' check out NCM.com.

Both Seyfried and Dominic Cooper (who played Sky in Mamma Mia) have stated that Mamma Mia 2 will be a prequel and that they won't be back since the prequel will cover a period in Donna's (Meryl Streep) life before Seyfried's character was born.
