With this week’s announcement of Fox’s Dollhouse cancellation, the good news is that they will air the last 13 episodes beginning in December. Joss Whedon regular and Dollhouse guest star Alexis Denisof took some time to talk on the “Somewhere in Vegas” podcast about his character in the upcoming episodes, and his becoming a daddy for the first time with wife, Alyson Hannigan.
Whedonverse fans may remember Densiof as Wesley Wyndam-Pryce in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. He currently plays Senator Daniel Perrin in the popular Dollhouse series, and Joss Whedon said to the Fox execs that only Denisof could pull off the role.

“He was actually over at the house one day visiting the baby during the summertime,” Denisof explained. “I ask him if the show was coming back, and was he ready for the show to come back or something. He said, ‘As a matter of fact it was.’ He had given the network two or three (plot points) he wanted to do in the season, and in one of them there was a senator named Daniel Parrin and it must be played by Alexis Denisof. I was floored and delighted to be able to work with him again.”

Denisof has been spending a lot of time with his newborn daughter Satyana before and after the time he was filming his scenes for the show. Luckily, Denisof and his wife, “How I Met Your Mother” star Alyson Hannigan, were working on the same lot and were able to see their daughter in between takes.
“I’m the manny daddy. We have a great set up where several days a week I go in, and Alyson and Satyana all come in together and we have a little room that is set up as a nursery at Fox. Alyson can come off set at every opportunity to come spend time with the baby and breast feed; and gets to keep her mothering going.”
Densiof got to work a few scenes with fellow Angel alum and Dollhouse star Eliza Dushku in the upcoming episodes, and was thrilled to be working with her again.
“It was terrific to be working with Eliza again in different circumstances,” Denisof continued. “The last time we were working together, I was playing Westley and she was playing Faith, and she was kicking by butt six different ways to Sunday.”
The new and final episodes of Dollhouse will start airing on Friday Dec. 4, with two back to back. Denisof has a prominent role in these two episodes, and says that these are the most thrilling episodes he has done with Whedon.
“Taking those two episodes together are as exciting as anything that I have ever shot on “Angel.” They really work up a phenomenal story. I am really excited to see how it turned out.”
