Actress Melissa Peterman goes “Working Class” on CMT

CMT embarks into new territory Friday nights as they introduce their first sitcom “Working Class” produced and starring Melissa Peterman. Peterman, co-star of the hit show “Reba”, plays a single mom who is raising three kids in an upscale suburb. When producing the show, she got a feel of how single mothers struggle in their lives.

“I’m a mom, but I’m not a single mother,” Peterman stated in an interview on the “Somewhere in Vegas” podcast. “I don’t know how they (do it). I have a husband, and babysitters; I find it hard. I find it amazing how single moms do it. I’m glad we’re getting to tell the single moms’ story on tv.”

Peterman got a solid cast supporting her, including tv comedy legend Ed Asnar, who plays the grump neighbor. With such a talent on set, she couldn’t be in better company.

“I would find myself in the middle of scenes thinking ‘He has seven Emmies’,” Peterman expressed about her co-star. “It’s like having a tv professor on set. We would all watch him with awe, and I am trying to soak everything I can.”

The guest stars this season will also support the strong cast, including “The Drew Carey Show” vets Ryan Stiles and Kathy Kinney. Perman’s good friend Reba McEntire will also be making an appearance later in the season.

Peterman, who is co-producing the show, has put in long hours into the show, but stated all the hard work has produced a hilarious and hit show.

“I think everyone at CMT that was involved is felling so positive after seeing the product, and watching the cast. The feeling and the vibe and the buzz out there is very positive. We are very hopeful (for a season 2).”

"Working Class" is on CMT (Billings cable channel 52) Friday nights.
