Hockey star Sidney Crosby scored the winning goal in overtime to give Canada an Olympic gold medal in men's hockey Feb. 28.
In a dramatic 3-2 win against silver-medalist USA, Canada won its first men's hockey gold on home soil in front of an enthralled sold-out crowd at Canada Hockey Place in Vancouver, B.C.
NATIONAL HERO
Sidney, the captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the (U.S.) National Hockey League, has now cemented his place as a hero in hockey-obsessed Canada.
The handsome Crosby, 22, has millions of fans vying to be his girlfriend, but his dedication to his sport supersedes everything at this point in his life.
WORKOUTS WITH A TWIST
The 5'11" Sidney, who weighs a robust 200 pounds, trains and works out relentlessly to stay in shape and avoid injury.
While Crosby has remained coy about his exact workouts (to "maintain his competitive edge"), he has revealed he works out daily, focusing on strengthening his core and on bolstering his balance.
FOCUS ON BALANCE AND STABILITY
"On the ice, you're always kind of leaning, or digging in and changing position," Sidney has said. "Balance and flexibility become very important. A lot of people forget how important it is to be athletic and to focus on moving your body well."

Crosby also runs regularly, but adds in a twist to further strengthen his stability.
"I almost always put my body in some sort of unnatural position, then try to keep doing the exercise fast and strong," he explains.
Adds Crosby: "If it's hurdles or cones or hill running, I'll do it with a weight belt on one side, or maybe a medicine ball."
'IT'S HARD TO HAVE A GIRLFRIEND'
While Sidney hasn't often discussed his personal life in interviews, he told a Pittsburgh news station he was single back in 2007.
“It’s pretty tough to meet girls," Crosby replied when asked if he had a girlfriend. "We don’t get a lot of time away from the rink.”
When asked what he looks for in a girlfriend, Sidney replied: “Probably somebody who’s pretty independent. With the hockey schedule, you need somebody who’s going to have to deal with what I deal with when I’m out in public....a pretty patient person.”
At the tender age of 22, Crosby has already won the Stanley Cup and an Olympic gold medal in less than 12 months. An emerging sports icon and heartthrob, expect to see a lot more of him in the future.
