VP Candidate Sarah Palin is no doubt in great shape but a few questions are getting answered in the media as Palin comes forward about the campaign and behind-the-scenes memoir about her story.
In an interview with Oprah this week, Palin says she was "surprised" by how controlling the campaign was - Often tell her how to style her hair, what to wear and who to talk to. Palin, though, says the last thing the campaign needed to worry about was what she was eating.
"There were a lot of things we should have been worried about. What I don't think we should have spent a lot of time on was what I eat," Palin said to Oprah. "And that was a focus of some of the campaign operatives, which was odd," she adds. "I would have liked to have focused on what the issues were that the American public needed to hear about."
Palin has said in the past, the campaign was controlling and in an interview with Barbara Walters, Palin revealed the campaign manager Steve Schmidt was very focused on Sarah Palin's diet during the run.
"He wanted to talk about what I eat," she said. "He got it all wrong anyway, assuming that I was on the Atkins diet," Palin said explaining Schmidt kept thinking she was on the Atkins when she wasn't. Later, she told Walters he hired a nutritionist for her.
She added, "I tried to correct him, and, and he wouldn't hear any of it. He thought that that was his role, was to shape me, even my diet, according to what he wanted in this package."
After the interview, ABC News revealed sources had told them "it was an uncomfortable discussion" the campaign had with Palin but it was based on concerns from campaign "aides" - Worried "Palin had been dieting and losing too much weight."
Forty-five year old Palin and mother to five children has always had a healthy lifestyle, dubbing running as her brace for "sanity" and making healthy food choices as a way of life. The Palin family enjoys activities around fitness, like snowmobiling and other outdoor sports, but when it comes to her own personal diet, Palin does have one confession.
"I hate to admit it, but a skinny white-chocolate mocha is my staple in the morning."
