Supermodel Naomi Campbell has said enough to the "fashion world's discrimination" against black models and is coming forth with an effort to bring more black influence into the fashion idustry.
"The world is not made up of blonde hair and blue eyes. We need to share ourselves," The Daily Mail quoted the 39-year-old model as saying.
"Where do we see a woman of color in an [ad]? It's quite blatant," Naomi said in an interview with The Mail backstage at her first annual Fashion for Relief Charity event in Africa.
"Africa is a place of tragedy but I see beauty everywhere," said the supermodel. "There are all these beautiful African women of color," she said.
Funds from the event in Africa will go to support maternal health. Campbell, a global ambassador for the White Ribbon Alliance, is an advocate for supporting maternal health and bringing awareness to the Alliance's efforts - Specifically in Tanzania where a woman dies in childbirth every hour, says The Mail.
At almost 40 years, Campbell's influence is still being heard in the modeling world. In regards to her idea of the model body, she said in 2008 she believed that after Gisele Bündchen, she didn't "think there’s been one" and earlier this year, she garnered media attention for being "racist" when she said in a Glamour magazine interivew, "You know, the American president may be black, but as black woman, I am still an exception in this business. I always have to work harder to be treated equally." (Wikipedia).
To keep her body runway ready, Campbell has been linked to stability ball training for the glutes and water workouts for overall body tone. Get Naomi's butt workout here or check out her go-to guy - Personal celebrity trainer David Kirsch.

There you go again!! May I put the record straight that Naomi Campbell was in Dar es Salam, Tanzania which is in Eastern Africa. Could you please stop this blanket reference to Africa as if its one big country. It isnt. It is highly unlikely that you would have said the same if this event had taken place in Europe. Oh, and before I forget, kudos to Naomi for turning the spotlight to black models.
Highly Exasperated African.
