of its neck in a Twitter photo she posted April 19. (Photos/Kim Kardashian)
Sex-tape icon Kim Kardashian reassured fans April 19 that she would never harm an animal after a controversial photo of her was slammed by animal rights activists.
"Yesterday I was doing a photo shoot with an adorable black kitty cat and I Twitpic'd this picture," Kardashian, 29, wrote on her blog. "I have been getting negative comments regarding the way I was holding the kitty."
Kim added: "Rest assured, the owner and vet were on set and showed me how to pick him up. The cat was not harmed in any way and is perfectly fine! I love animals and would never do anything to harm any animals."
Shortly after the busty reality TV star posted the photo to her Twitter account, fans started berating her handling of the kitty as potentially abusive.
PETA: KIM'S ACTIONS MAY ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO MISHANDLE ANIMALS
Animal-rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) even got into the act, releasing the following statement:
It is permissible to hold a kitten by his or her scruff for a brief amount of time. (But) the manner in which Ms. Kardashian is holding the kitten could lead others to mishandle animals.
While some fans defended Kardashian by pointing out that kittens are held by the scruff of the neck by their mothers, others stressed that kittens only tolerate this treatment from their moms since cats don't have hands (duh).
Meanwhile, Kim has yet to respond to press reports that she is dating Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
Kardashian and Ronaldo, 25, were reportedly spotted by fans last week in a Madrid restaurant kissing over lunch.
Kim, who's shilling the diet pill Quick Trim, dropped by Miami April 19 to celebrate her sister Kourtney's 31st birthday. The voluptuous 5'2" Kardashian showed off her recent weight loss by posing in a (what else??) sexy bikini with Kourtney and a friend.

Need to grab her by the neck pick her up see how she likes it,she would hollering abuse.
First of all that is how the mother cat picks up it's kittens and as long is the cat is still relatively small it doesn't hurt. So before screaming that she is abusing animals learn a little about animals.
The really inportant question is who really cares what any7 Kardashian thinks. Specifically Kim - If you picked her up by the neck I don't think she would even notice! DUH
I don't care, she is hot and she can abuse me any way she wants.
someone should pick Kim up by her fake hair, have someone tweet a photo of it and see how she feels. Somehow i bet she wouldn't mind. After all, people have seen her nekked and having sekks. What's left after that??!
kim is always in the news this chick loves attention. at some point in life you want privacy butt i guest that's how she makes her money. i agree she is a pretty girl but dont you ever get tired of showing your body all the time that i know what really got u famous but sometimes have some respect for yourself because that's is what the fellas is looking at your booty not ur mind or what type of person you could be.
Kim, if you were hurting you pussy you would know it.
Kim, I want to be reincarnated as your bicycle seat.
Who freaking cares. The kitten weighs 1-2 pounds (if that), it is not being hurt. You can tell by the submissive posture it has, that it is fine. I would go crazy if I was as famous as Kim, and had to put up with "news" of my every move.
This is all ridiculous. It is a perfectly normal thing to a young kitten to be picked up in this manner, and probably feels less invasive than being picked up by its middle as we often do. There are hormones released by this sort of handling that produce feelings of calm in cats. Read up on it.
