Mother to eight Kate Gosselin says there's work to be done and while she plays her mom of role first, she is focused on what has to be done for her family.
"This is my job. This is my paycheck, and so this is what I do," Kate said recently in an interview with Ellen Degeneres.
Adding, "It's not the paparazzi. My focus is not what trip I can go on, or what shows I can do as a result of this thing," she said, getting a jab in at estranged husband Jon Gosselin for his recent rumors about hopping on another reality TV show.
"I am a mother first. I will always be a mother, and I would die for my kids if need be," she reassures. "I would never put them in a situation that was dangerous or unsafe for them and like any mother ... there is nothing I would do to put them in danger."
Kate, who's recently been under due stress after having money stolen from Jon and dealing with "stressed out" kids due to the cancellation of the show, talked to Ellen about getting back on her feet and into the dating game.
Kate, who arguably looks more improved since first appearing on reality TV, claims to be a healthy eater and shares the healthy eating with her children. Kate's been spotted exercising with the kids and reports have stirred about her meticulous demands when dining out, but perhaps most popular with the press with Kate's complimentary tummy tuck.
So when Ellen suggested the new-and-improved Kate needed to date again, she empathetically replied, "I have to?"
"The thought has crossed my mind. At some point," she said adding her fear that any relationship would fall under the speculation of the media. For now, Kate treasures what she has - And she's soon hoping to treasure a replacement ring to fill the void of her exiled wedding ring.
On the Ellen show, Kate revealed she's been admiring a ring she described as having "eight, little diamonds surrounded by a mother of pearl", telling Ellen the ring reminds her of her family, her kids.
"It's the symbol of me and the kids together forever," she told Ellen, adding she let the kids in on her want for the ring and they, in turn, were "excited about that."
Showing restraint though Kate revealed the ring won't be coming to her until she gets another job. No news if she's in the market for anything soon but Ellen candidly ask if they kids would "each get one ring with one diamond" to which Kate said, "Absolutely."

I'm confused. She says she's not into taking trips and finding another show. Isn't she always taking trips? Isn't she in Ca. right now? Didn't she say she wants to be in the movies? Didn't she say she feels being in front of the camera is normal for her?
Sure, I believe she is a mother first. The millionS she has already made are not enough to support the family. I guess she doesn't want to give up the nannies, babysitters, cooks, cleaning people and gardeners. Yes Kate it is all about being a mother for you. NOT! Does she ever worry about all the time she spends doing talk shows means leaving the kids with nannies. I am amazed at how many people bash Jon and pity her. What is there to pity? She is just as bad.
Let me understand. She will get a ring when she gets a new job, which she hopes will be on tv. The kids will get a ring when they get a job. Haven't they been working their whole lives? According to her, when she is in front of the camera it is her job. Following her logic, when the kids are in front of the camera it must be their job too. Imagine that, they have been forced to work their entire life so she can have the plastic surgery, fancy clothes, personal trainer, vacations and trips all over the country. Yes Kate we believe you. It is all for the kids.hahahahah
Seriously. Her health? I can't wait to see her kids in 20 years when they have mental illness, eating disorders and dysfunctional relationships...

she had a commitment in CA before all this happened. and besides it is Jons time with the kids, what is wrong with her doing stuff, she would see her kids less if she had a 9 to 5 because she would have to work two 9 to 5's to support them, i hope she does great staying on tv enough to support them all!
Lots of jealousy and hatred on here this morning. What's wrong, aren't the hate blogs open for the day yet? I don't like Kate, but I don't hate her either. It evades me why people spend so much time hating on a perfect stranger, that can't be healthy. I'm concerned about you people (and your families).
Do you people not see these parents? Why has CPS not floated in ASAP and picked these kids up?? This is exploitation of children and the whole gang (and they're girlfriends) should be halted. These kids will have issues their whole life
I watched the interview last night and had some thoughts: When they knew they were having six more chidren how did they plan to support all the children then. It sure is nice that the kids and Jon & Kate reaped the rewards of a brand new home with lots of property, special trips, special made play houses, hotel stays by Kate when she found the house too much with 8 children. Plastic surgery and lots of attention. Which I can't believe was not welcome. The rest of the parenting world does not look to other sources to support their families. I found the interview to be quite self serving. I am not sure but Kate seems to think she can keep the money rolling in by herself doing a tv show or film. I think she needs to come back to real world and start figuring out how to live a regular, normal life with those special children.
It's funny how "movie stars" do exactly the same thing she's doing. And yet everyone is hating Kate? Give me a break! The kids are NOT ON TV ANYMORE. Move on people! Get a grip. If you want to see broken, sad kids.. Look online. Google adopting a foster child. Those are unloved children! Maybe she should have been a dead beat and lived off the goverment? You haters need to get a life!
