On-again-off-again Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer reportedly broke up because the singer is suffering an addiction to Twitter.
According to Star magazine, sources close to Aniston say Mayer spent "hours on Twitter".
Star Magazine reports Mayer stopped calling or returning Aniston's e-mails or phone calls, saying he was busy with work but when Aniston found "hundreds of Tweets" from his page, she confronted him about the lies.
The mag goes on to explain Mayer simply acknowledged his lies and told Aniston he was sorry it didn't work out, showing no remorse.
Mayer has defended his Twitter addiction before, telling E! Online back in March that he didn't have an obsession with the online micro-blogging site.
"It's inherently silly and it's inherently dumb," he said back in March, while also claiming It's not "path to spiritual enlightenment," and adding on his page "it's one step away from sending pictures of your poop."
Since first being spotted together in April 2008, the mag reports this break to be the final one, but not the first time Twitter has come in between celebrity relationships.

The Center for Online and Internet Addiction says online obsession can be a very real thing, affecting 1 in 8 Americans and even diagnosing some with a specified addiction to Ebay.
"Some people are preoccupied with using the Internet, are unable to control their use, and are jeopardizing employment and relationships," the site says. "The concept of 'Internet addiction' has been proposed as an explanation for this uncontrollable, damaging use of this technology."
The site, established since 1995, has online tests to determine individual risk levels, answer frequently asked questions and provide resources for books and counseling - All online.
