Elin Nordegren is still suffering from the "raw pain" and after-effects following her divorce from AP's "Athlete of the Decade" Tiger Woods. After recently confessing to bouts of severe depression and angst from Tiger's illicit and public sexual affairs, Elin is taking baby steps to bring her life back together.
Engaging in Education
As an active student of psychology, Elin hopes to take her situation and turn it into something for the best. Experts interviewed by the New York Daily News argue that Elin's coming forward post-divorce will provide a good "role model" for everyday women.
"It sounds like she's handling it really, really well," Rachel Sussman, a Manhattan marriage counselor, says. "I'm impressed. I'm glad she came forward because I think she can be a role model."
During the nine-months the sex scandal was airing nationwide, Elin spent time working on her psychology degree via night classes. According to reports, the Swedish blonde wants to put her brains to work and eventually become a therapist herself and is just 40 hours short of her degree.
Taking on a Triathlon
In addition to nurturing herself psychologically, Elin is ramping up her fitness. The 34-23-33 Nordegren is setting fitness goals. In order to occupy her mind and focus on fitness, she's making the attempt to run a triathlon.
Alan Hughes, Examiner.com's Triathlon expert, believes that Elin's decision to take on a tri is a great alternative to more traditional methods of coping. Seen cycling in her neighborhood, Hughes also points out that her efforts to take on a fitness challenge would attract more positive press than she's seen in the last year.
"Some people turn to medication to cope with stress, some choose other methods," he says. "Exercise can be a great alternative."
Focusing on Family
"My immediate plan is for the kids and me to continue to adjust to our new situation," the 30-year-old former bikini model said in her exclusive interview with People magazine. As the mother of two to 3-year-old Sam and 19-month-old Charlie, Nordegren admits the situation was a tough one to swallow.
Elin says the worst part of the process has been the "grief over the loss of the family I so badly wanted for my children". Sources close to Elin say she's still enduring shock over the "reality of the situation".
“The reality of her marriage ending hit her hard," a family friend tells Radar. "She never thought she’d be in this position. She had no idea that Tiger was cheating on her the entire time she was married.”

She has more money than the average millionaire will ever have ...her pain...really now.
Sure it is nice to be so comfortably wealthy, but it cannot put the children's natural father in their home or bring back the husband she thought she loved. Money cannot buy the things in life that really count.

If peaople can have a clue about what wealth means and what happiness means, the world would be a better place. This woman does not need the money, what she needed was a family, which is now destroyed and not by her doing.
"Run a triathlon"?????? Forget about Elin. This Sunny Pepper is a real brain surgeon. Someone needs to tell her you don't "run" a triathlon. You do run one part of it. There's also swimming and cycling. Sorry to sound patronizing to those of you who know this, but somebody has to tell her. Journalism ain't what it used to be.

I am so glad that Elin Nordegren and the children are finally free from Tiger’s bad influence and away from his sordidness. I commend Elin for her wise decision, for being a caring and loving mother and for her great courage, dignity and class during this horrid period in her life.
