Amanda Seyfried's acting career has skyrocketed in the last couple of years. After starring as the ditzy blonde in the 2004 hit Mean Girls, Seyfried has emerged as a Hollywood It Girl.
In January, Amanda, 24, landed the cover of Vanity Fair magazine. Since then, the wispy blonde has been featured in dozens of magazines, and just landed the cover of Esquire, where she discussed her raw-food diet and move to NYC.
RAW DOESN'T DO IT FOR HER
"I'm on a raw-food diet," says Seyfried. "It's intense, and sort of awful. Yesterday for lunch? Spinach and some seeds."
Amanda is preparing to move to New York after spending six years in Los Angeles while working on the hit HBO series Big Love.
"I sacrificed six years in L.A.," she says. "I did my job out here. I made the contacts and did the work I had to do. But I came here at 18. I'm out of here at 24, and I feel lucky it wasn't longer."
[Editor's note: During the Esquire interview, the reporter noted that Amanda took Lexapro during their meeting. Lexapro is generally used to treat anxiety and depression.]
Like other actresses, Seyfried admits being skinny and looking good is part of her job. But unlike some celebs, Amanda confesses she works very hard to maintain her svelte figure.
'I HAVE TO BE SKINNY FOR MY JOB'
"If I didn't run and work out, there's no way I would be this thin," she told Glamour UK. "But I have to stay in shape because I'm an actress."
She adds: "It's f**ked up and twisted, but I wouldn't get the roles otherwise. If I had been bigger, I don't think they would have cast me for [the 2008 comedy] Mamma Mia! So I work out a lot and I'm pretty moderate about what I eat."
Like other celebs, Seyfried has battled eating disorders and body-image issues in the past. "I’m not a beautiful prom-girl type," she has said. "It’s very easy for me to gain weight. Even though I tried not eating for a week when I was really young, I couldn’t do it any longer because I liked my food too much."
Seyfried next stars as a troubled call girl in Chloe (co-starring Julianne Moore), which opens March 26.

I'm on a cooked food diet and it's WONDERFUL! I may not live as long, who knows, but i'm eating awesome and mostly healthful food. Raw just doesn't do much for me.
Her face is weird but her body is now insane. But she's def. talented, so good for her.
