Shaniya Davis-sold by mother to pay off a drug debt-watch heart wrenching video

Shaniya Davis with man charged w/her murder  ph. fayetteville pol.dept.

The 5-year-Shaniya Davis’s funeral service was held yesterday, drawing hundreds of strangers, mourning the loss of a beautiful innocent little girl, who did not deserve her fate.

Mario McNeill has been charged with first-degree murder and first-degree rape of a

child. Authorities report that Shaniya was strangled to death. Her body was found on Monday mixed in with deer carcass in bags and overlooked at first.

Antoinette Davis is charged with trafficking her daughter, child abuse and prostitution. Shaniya’s father, Bradley Lockhart told Oprah last week that Davis had trafficked the child to pay off a drug debt.

Today on CBS, the 5-year-old girl’s aunt, Carey Lockhart-Davis shared her agony, pain and her frustration with a justice system that seems to care more about providing a better quality of life for murderers than most hard working Americans. She tells CBS/ The Early Show Today;

"We have a lot of people … [who have] lost their jobs, who don't have health care, even children that are in homes don't get three square meals a day. But this man sits with guards protecting him, he's receiving free medical, free meals," Carey Lockhart-Davis said on CBS' "The Early Show" Monday.

During Sundays service, a clearly distressed aunt, who helped raise Shaniya with the girl’s father, said the experience has been "overwhelming."

To me, it hurts! because its the fact that her own mother gave her away. and the man is stupid or should i say desparate enough to take the litle girl and killed her. I could imagine all the pain her little body was going through. and i just pray for the family that was very close to her and now she's in a better place and she's bein carried in an angels arms. now, Shaniya, all your pain is GONE! But your dad and the whole world will miss you. rest in peace baby girl!! :)

I feel that the father nof the child , should be charged with neglect. Why would you let a child go in the arms of drug abuser. I feel he is the blame as well. Because he was the father he had a say about the care of his little girl. He should feel very bad. He made a bad decision. And look who paid for it. And the bastard that did it should get the death penalty along with the mother. She is a disgust. And the man is also and should be put to sleep. I feel he need to feel what he did to that little girl noone deserve that. I have no sympathy foe neither mother or killer.!!!!!!!!

I Don't understand exactly how someone could hurt that precious little girl. What is this world coming to? How I wish I could hold little Shaniya in my arms and tell her that everything is alright, and that she doesn't have to ever worry about being hurt again!! I Love you Shaniya, with all of my heart angel!! God Bless you precious.

I'm very disappointed on the biological dad right now. i think he has just neglected his own baby girl. How can you know the mother is a drug addict and you never fought for the full custody of your child knowing she is not in a safe place? I suspect he really never care for his daughter and is actually looking for fame.

i cant help but cry over this story.. if anything this is the most horrific crime ive ever seen. look at how trusting and calm that lil girl is in laying in this man's arms. just laying there with all her innocence not knowing that she is about to be violated and killed. trusting this man as a child should because her mom gave her to him. this is sick and he is sick to even do something like this to a freaking baby.. how nasty and how disgraceful.

jd what the heck? You are talking about a child rapist-murderer here. Don't give me that "he who is without sin cast the first stone." I think you are taking that out of context. Jesus said that to a prostitute, a grown woman, who was using her own freedom of will to sell her body. Not a child rapist murderer.

JD- TRex is right, Your comment is completely inappropriate and irrelevent here. This is an innocent child we're talking about- with no sins- how can you throw stones at an innocent child, one of Gods own angels?
I will pray that you receive clarity and better understanding of the Bible, and for that sweet little angel that is now in heaven.

    This is just horrible.
To JD: I might have sinned in a minor way - but this is Murder!! It is wrong and oh yes, we can judge them both.
The aunt is right. Sitting in jail with food, dental, medical, etc... is more than a lot of people have right now.

the mother and the guy who murdered her shouldnt have any care while in jail because they didnt care when little Shaniya was being traded, raped, and murdered...I may only be 11years old but thatsjust messed up she had her whole life ahead of her...just thinking about made me want to cry she musted have been crying a lot...If I were in charge of what happens to mario mc neil I'd have him get put in the execution chair because he shoudln't be alive...R.I.P Jasmine is right her pain is gone now so shes in a better place. She's in gods hands now he will take care of her...shes an angel sent from heaven.

Okay, hold up. The father says that the mother sold off her daughter to pay a drug debt??? So HE KNEW this woman was unfit to be a mother?? Lord help me but I cannot stop thinking that the father just gave her up because he didn't feel like having an extra mouth to feed. Think about it, did Shaniya transition into living with her mother or the father just outright handed her over for good? I hope I'm wrong. This whole thing just sucks!!!

I see many comments about the neglect of the biological father- I seriously doubt his pain is for his own fame and I am sure he cared for his daughter. Yes, to allow her in her drug abusing mother's care was not appropriate or responsible but I doubt seriously he or ANYONE else would ever imagine that this would happen. I guarantee you that he is battling his own guilt- possibly this is what the comment from JD meant- maybe he or she was referring to the father. Back off the dad- think about his own hell is going through. It is horrible and things could have been down to prevent- everything, unfortunately, this horrific crime has already been committed.

At matt198327 you are PATHETIC, how could you even say something like that. Honestly this little girl doesn't look like she trusts this man. SHE LOOKS SCARED !!!!!! I don't know how people could do this. The father and the mother and the sick freak is to be blamed. They were ALL wrong. God will handle them. It really makes me wonder why God would allow a little girl to go through this. That man that raped and killed her is the devil walking.
