Hugh Jackman with US Navy 2006
X-Men Origins: Wolverine star Hugh Jackman has many things going for him. His incredible acting skills have taken him on a celebrity high ride from the big screen to Broadway theater and back to the big screen again. That isn't what makes him so sexy though. His charitable heart and good deeds are what make him one of the hottest hunks to hit the big screen.
Jackman supports many causes including AIDS awareness, fighting cancer, fighting poverty, raising creative art awareness and encouraging others to dedicate their time and talents to children in need. Some of the charities he supports are The Art of Elysium, Operation of Hope, Global Poverty Project and the Motion Picture and Television Fund Foundation.
As recently as April, he involved himself with other charities. He used Twitter to tweet a challenge to the public. The challenge: Write, in 140 or less characters, why your charity should get the big donation. The donation was for $100,000. The tweets sent out were to encourage others to show their passion for their charities and prompt others to give to charities generously.
Jackman chose charity:water and Operation of Hope because the tweets he received for these charities really got to him. charity:water is a non-profit organization which focuses on raising awareness about extreme poverty and clean water. Operation of Hope is a non-profit medical foundation which helps children with facial deformities. Both are worthy and Jackman saw fit to split the grand prize donation between the two charities gaining each organization $50,000.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is playing in theaters now all across the nation and stars the charitable hunk, Hugh Jackman.
