"Dancing with the Stars" tribute dance to Michael Jackson
On Saturday night hundreds of thousands of Michal Jackson fans gathered around the world to participate in “Thrill the World” in tribute to Michael Jackson, to raise money for numerous charities and to attempt to break the world record of dancing to the late Michael Jackson’s song “Thriller.”
Reportedly over 6,000 fans danced to “Thriller” in Los Angles, California alone, “Thrill the World" kicked off at 5:30 p.m. in California, as well as 37 countries around the globe. Numbers are still being tabulated, but Saturday's events are expected to top the previous record, set by 13,597 people in Mexico City August 29th, on what would have been Michael Jackson's birthday.
Mandy Jiroux best friend of Miley Cyrus and “Dancing with the Stars” former contestant, Chuck Liddell were reportedly in Los Angles to support the grand task.
The event started as a "cool idea" three years ago, and is now an international hit in five continents. Ines Markelle, a dance choreographer and instructor in Toronto, Canada, founded "Thrill the World" with 62 dancers in 2006. Last year, the event grew to 4,179 participants in 10 countries. There were already 372 registered events in countries from Malaysia to Mexico as of Thursday.
Colleges and churches around the United States such as The University of Wisconsin - La Crosse just to name one, "This isn't just a small dance to perform the week before Halloween," says Heather Suby, La Crosse area event organizer, "but an attempt to make history and be in the Guinness Book of World Records as well as raise funds for a charity of choice."
Thrill the World of La Crosse will donate all monetary funds to Wisconsin Badger Camp, an organization to benefit people with developmental disabilities. Collected food donations will support local food pantries.

Yes, I participated with my son in the Anaheim American Sports Center THRILL THE WORLD EVENT! We had a wonderful time, and it's not a difficult dance. You have just to memorize the steps; it's six minutes of dancing. Totally worth it! It meant the world to me being with other Michael Jackson lovers! I miss him.
I participated with my husband at the Pier in St. Petersburg Florida. There were a total of 198 dancers. The event was great! Everyone danced so well. What a wonderful way to pay tribute to Michael Jackson. We want to do it again next year.
