'Jon and Kate Plus 8:' Jon Gosselin walks for Autism Speaks charity organization
Jon Gosselin is apparently trying to clean up his, pool party with Jon Gosselin, image and is walking for charity today at the 'Walk Now for Autism Speaks' in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Jon Gosselin sent out a Twitter message early this morning announcing, "Really excited for the Autism Speaks walk for autism at Citizens Bank Park tomorrow morning. An amazing organization run by amazing people."
Jon Gosselin later Tweeted, "Please take a look at www.walknowforautism.org/ph... if you want to learn more about the event and the ways you can get involved." Gosselin did not state whether his eight children were participating in the event or not.
'Autism Speaks' is dedicated to increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders, to funding research into the causes, prevention and treatments for autism, and to advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. It was founded in February 2005 by Suzanne and Bob Wright, the grandparents of a child with autism.
'Walk Now for Autism,' is 'Autism Speaks' signature fundraising and awareness event, taking place in communities across the United States, as well as in Canada and the United Kingdom. Powered by volunteers and families with loved ones on the autism spectrum, this successful grassroots fundraising effort not only generates vital funds for autism research but also raises awareness about the increasing prevalence of autism and the need for increased research funding to combat this complex disorder.

You have to give Jon credit. He's at least trying to do the right things now.
I think that it's too late for both parents. What a sad situation for the poor kids. If both parents just simply "went away" and tended to their family then all of the buzz would die down. It's such a competition between those two for the limelight and they both crave approval from the public.
It's still the kids that win people's hearts and hopefully their little hearts aren't too broken with the selfish behavior of both parents. The kids will always be loved by the public. As for the parents, their day in the sun is over.

To late for what? He's not trying to "save face". It's the media interpretation of what he's doing. He's doing this for the benefit of the organization.
Heck, just by him appearing, the event already grabbed the attention of Team Kate and the anti-Jon group.
As a mother with a son on the autism spectrum, I say thank you, John. We can use all the expose and help there is in this wonderful organization and cause.

Sure hope the walk helped the Autism Charity!!! It's a shame though, to have a loser speaking about the event.
I took part in the walk today. Had no idea he was going to be there.... turned around & there he was. Originally loved his show, but lost interest due to the drama... Regardless, it was nice of him to give some time to the cause.
Ok so just because Jon and Kate could not make their marriage work, how does that make them bad parents!!!! I think they are still doing what is best for the children and that alone makes them great parents. For months now everyone is making a huge deal out of nothing! So what, they split up!!! Some people just arent meant to be together!! And if Jon wants to date a young woman then who cares! At least he is doing what makes him happy. Same goes for Kate in whatever she wants to do! Life is too short to be miserable all the time people!!! Jon and Kate are still good people raising their kids the best they can and let me tell you, they are doing a way better job even now than most people!!!
It may have been for selfish reasons but if he brought some attention to the organization, then it was worthwhile. My heart goes out to the children and parents that deal with autism all their life.

Now Kate is appearing at a skate show? Why are fools paying to see these crooks who take money from people who have FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR less than they have?
They took money from little church groups who probably regret that now, knowing they should have used their church money for better causes.
All that nonsense about using coupons was bull. They got tons and tons of free food and everything else and yet they sat at those church groups having a pity party and taking their money.
People who give money to John and Kate are SAPS, SAPS, SAPS. Do any of you have the money that they have? I think not.
Some of you forget that Jon worked with a handicapped boy on a ski trip earlier this year. He has a good heart and I think he is going to do some great things once he gets through this rough time in his life. I have been through something similar and I got stronger for it. My advice is just for him to stay out of the limelight so everyone doesn't hear and see his bad choices!
Any of you who are bashing Jon for showing up at the autism walk need to get a grip on reality. A person who will give up their personal time to make an appearance at such an amazing charitable event is greatfully appreciated. Unless any of you lived in his shoes, maybe you should try to understand the concept that no one knows what really goes on behind closed doors>
I think the cause is worthy, but Jon is only doing all this stuff for his own personal gain and to do damage control. Kate started the charity work and he is a BIG phoney. He make me sick!
That new lawyer for Jon is working miracles! He made Jon shut his pie hole, and now has him showing up for organizations that do need the publicity! Evidentely Jon is finally listening to someone, cause all he knows to do is run his mouth and that never benefits him!
Jon is such a pig. He is only doing this because he's afraid of losing the easy money from the show. I will never believe anything he says or does.
I love how some of the people here has Jon "figured out". That's great. Because everyone posting here is "perfect!!" Jon was extremely kind to get involved in this very special cause. That should be the focus. Quick picking him apart and give the man a little credit. As was said above, we are not walking in his shoes. Let's just stay in our own shoes, shall we??
