Celebrities unite to support the Lupus Foundations of America Butterfly Gala

The 2011 Lupus Foundations of America Butterfly Gala took place last night at The Pierre Hotel in New York City and attracted a star studded guest list. Guests were treated to a special performance from Oleta Adams and celebrities such as Al Roker, Whoopi Goldberg, Deborah Roberts and Gayle King attended the event in order to support the fight against Lupus and raise money for research, education and support services throughout Greater New York.

GRAMMY nominated singer Oleta Adams: “Lupus has affected every area of my life, and it was very empowering to me to share my personal story. I want people to have a greater awareness and understanding of lupus. We need to bring attention to this disease to further research and the development of new treatments for individuals with lupus.

Guests of the 2011 Butterfly Gala were treated to a live performance by Oleta Adams who wowed the crowd with her amazing voice and personal rendition of “New York State of Mind.” The talented singer also spoke to the crowd and explained how she has suffered from Lupus and has been living with the disease for ten years.

The Lupus Foundation of America recognized Stephen L  Sadove, Chairman and CEO of Saks Fifth Avenue as well as Natalie Morales, NBC News Anchor and “Today” show co-host for their dedication to the cause and the leadership they have shown in the fight against Lupus.
