According to TMZ.com, bad dad Jon Gosselin attempted unsuccessfully to trade his 2005 BMW M3 on a 2008 Subaru WRX STi and $4k cash in his pocket, on Friday, December 18, 2009. Because there was no 2005 M5, Gosselin's car would have to be a 2003 or older, based on the photos at TMZ.
The former Jon and Kate Plus 8 star reportedly couldn't make the deal and left in his own car. One of the many ironies in this situation is that apparently Stephanie Santoro, the babysitter he allegedly had a relationship with, used to work at the same lot - Auto Exchane USA, in Lancaster, PA. There is no word if ex-wife Kate Gosselin is involved in the deal.

About the 2003 BMW M5
According to Edmunds.com, Introduced midway through the third-generation 5 Series run in 2000, the M5 is as close to perfection as any ultrahigh-performance sedan has ever come. It's of course based on the 5 Series, specifically the 540i (already an incredible sport sedan in its own right) -- which BMW turned over to its Motorsport division for intensive powertrain and chassis modifications.
Starting with the 4.4-liter block from the 540i, BMW's M Division bumped displacement to 5.0 liters with a bore and stroke job. Compression is set at 11:1 (a full point higher than the 4.4-liter in the 540i), and the cylinder heads offer more efficient cross coolant flow and larger intake ports. Outfitted with Double VANOS steplessly variable valve timing, this engine is good with 394 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 369 pound-feet of torque at a low 3,800 rpm. Even with the M5's curb weight of over 4,000 pounds, 0-to-60-mph acceleration happens in a lightning-quick 5 seconds. But don't expect those times to happen with both hands on the wheel; the M5's only transmission is a six-speed manual. READ MORE AT EDMUNDS.COM >>>

What an odd premise for an article.
But then so is the premise Celebrity, I guess. Hey another penny for you. Congrats.
That's HILARIOUS! Love the article, love the cars, not a fan of the guy.
Who are these Examiners that feel the need to flame their colleagues? Each time someone views an article here, it is one more chance they might click on YOUR most recent article. Here, it is clear an Examiner from DC is disgruntled (yes, the penny a hot gave it away) -- but their thinking is flawed.
Celebrity news might be silly, but reading it is a pastime that people enjoy. It's nice to know that ol' JG got turned down on a car deal... he's unemployed like the rest of America, was probably upside down in his car, and has 8 kids and an ex-wife to support. Why would they finance him the difference if the numbers didn't add up? Besides -- why would Subaru want that guy repping their cars? He's a PR dud.
That means Tom's article is good news for the channel and celebrity A&E, too. As such, a friendly tweet of the link with a comment to say you shared the news would be smart cross promotion... and not embarrass other team members who KNOW when it's you.
