Tobey Maguire, star of the Spiderman movies, Brokeback Mountain, Pleasantville and a few generic dramas is rumored to be planning to adopt a baby with his wife Jennifer Meyer. The couple have two children, and In Touch magazine is reporting that the couple believes in adoption and wants to expand their family soon by adopting.
However, In Touch may be out of touch this week. Tobey Maguire's spokesperson said that the rumors are untrue. It is true that some stars require their reps to shot down certain rumors, even if they're true, for convenience's sake or to protect their privacy. Madonna's representative repeatedly denied her pregnancy with Rocco and her marriage plans with ex-husband Guy Ritchie.
In Touch cites unnamed "friends," so only Tobey Maguire and his family know whether this one is true. The rumored adoption is of a baby overseas, so a denial may be issued simply to keep the adoption specifics private. No one wants a Madonna-style PR nightmare like the singer got when she adopted her second child from Malawi.
